got mine from a torrent site.

it's fast and seems simpler than xp or vista, for people who haven't explored their computers ever and don't know jack about them. those who know the in's and out's, have to rediscover where everything is.

I heard Windows 7 Crashes up to 30% faster and even calls tech support.

Couldn;t pass this one up. Was the Late Night Top Ten contest question. Top Ten New Features Of Windows 7.

This weeks is Top Ten Contest Cuestion. Little known Facts About Sesame Street. I went with Oscar the Grouch and Recycling. It would just be better having him throw it out. (of his can).

I don't know the details guys sorry :( far as I know the upgrade only works from vista --> windows 7. I had been using the beta and release candidate and now am using the legit version. Still stoaked :) haha

The new win+P key combination has easily saved me several hundred dollars of time if not more, i think $30 is a pretty fair offer..

how come it's free

can you talk a little about it ?
do most programs and games work on it ?

its linux/open source, and you can literally make the the OS do ANYTHING you want it to. You can download any application for free, or even create your own. Only thing it hates itunes and the program for my guitar POD - so what i do is use a program from sun microsystems called "sun virtual box" - which allows you to create an additional virtual hard drive partition - I then installed Windows XP on that virtual drive, and now whenever the tiny chance that Ubuntu actually won't work with something happens I just click on virtual box, and it boots and loads windows XP in a window for me, and yes it actually talks with the usb ports and shit. It's really fucking out there. YOu can name the OS's that you install on the virtual partition whatever you want - I named the OS "weedXP"

Linux is an inconvenient waste of time for the majority of computer users. Windows 7 is a massive improvement over Vista and I actually prefer it to XP. I highly recommend it, especially if you can get it for $30.

All you need is a .edu email address folks. As for linux, my dad runs ubuntu on his computer. Here is a pro/con list for a lamen:

pro: you aren't going to get viruses, all applications are freely available and open source, the OS is free, nobody else will know how to/want to use your computer :)

con: difficult to get used to the GUI, not all the apps are that great, compatibility, difficult for non-tech users to trouble shoot, don't think games work on linux to my knowledge (not 100%)

when you went to Windows 7, did your progs already installed on your computer automatically update to be compatible with the new OS? Or did you have re-install all of your progs/apps?
