I really believe baby's and kids that grow up with dogs are taught be them a sort of unconditional love that humans fall short on. I'm thankful I grew up with dogs around. They are like people on 4 legs with more loyalty and trustworthyness.
I loved this one deeply, he was the runt of the litter & I had to hand feed him every two hours
around the clock, I had my vet put him down as he lost weight not gained & was 3 weeks old,
if you only knew the prayer, dedication and efforts I put into keeping him alive. I'd decided that
I'd have to keep him if he'd have lived, I was so attached to him by then.
'Champ' was his name
I knew that natural selection would take some of the litter but that didn't stop me from trying my hardest, praying, begging and pleading to help Champ. By the end of the three weeks my mind was like mush from the lack of regular lengthy sleep, not only was I feeding Champ every two hours I was feeding the 5 other pups including Champ every fourth hour as well, it was the bitches first litter & she decided not to feed them regularly so I had to. My dog having a litter was a wonderful experience, my back was in tough shape so it diminished the pleasure of the project a bit.
