there have been articles about how in parts of afghanistan, poppy farmers are converting back to mj and apparently the afghan weed crop is up 40% this year. So with any luck, the same smugglers bringing the afghan smack into the UK will start bringing some decent afghan hash...keep you fingers crossed!

You can thank 9/11 for that. When the borders shut down here coke stopped either in mexico or the caribbean. The caribbean stuff was easier to bring to europe rather than bring it into the states.

For me Hash in the UK changed in early 1990 when masses of "diesel" and "formula" hit the market, things were so bad that when soapbar reared its ugly head people were actually "relieved" by it, not me though, at that point i began smoking only buds, i was lucky that one of my best mates set up a big op, and my supply was guaranteed for a few years until he was eventually busted.

Prior to that horrible winter of discontent (89-90) there was a great choice of resin available within easy reach of anyone who wanted it, one simply had to go into the right pub and one had a choice of lebanese, morrocan (rocky) or the various black "seals". the worst you'd ever get was called slate rocky, it was low grade but would beat the shit out of soap anyday.

I've heard of wet weed going around at the moment, and didn't realise it was the oriental gangs doing this.

well...its them and everybody else now. Of course some growers sold wet or damp weed before the Chinese/Viet crews-but i think that it was them doing it on such as scale that caused it to become a pretty normal practice.It's not good but at least you can dry wet weed out-

yeah it's bad for alot of people ATM-think it may be changing a bit in that there seems to be a huge wave of small scale growers setting up in response to the drought, which can only be good thing

Thanks for the info - I'm also wondering how wet the weed being sold at the moment is please? Is it smokable or doesn't it burn?

And if you bought say a quarter or an ounce, how much weight would you lose when it's dried properly?

The only time I've ever bought wet weed was from the Greenhouse Effect coffeeshop in A'dam - supposedly their best SSH (!). I had to dry it out in my hotel room before smoking it because it wouldn't burn, and this was in 2001 - never bought from there again after that!

Hi and thanks for the link Eddie; I've just listened to it and it was an interesting article.

At the end the Merseyside police say the same as I did earlier in this thread, that the UK isn't flooded with MJ, as you would expect it to be with so much being grown, and that he wouldn't be surprised if the growers were sending it abroad as well.

I'm not so sure about this, especially as the UK has been so dry and struggling for the past 2-3 years, and would be interested in other people's comments on this issue.

yeah but elsewhere another copper pretty much summed up the situation: canna slipped off the list of policing priorities for a couple of years after re-classification, things went BOOOM, now they are back on it hence the reduced supply. However much is being grown now it's less than a few years ago. I've heard the export idea before recently-you may be right-but i don't think so-the foreign growers come here coz this is where their market is-it wouldn't make commercial sense to export it. I think that the image of the UK as one great big canna factory is propoganda

Another factor is that energy suppliers are instigateing police investigations far more than previous.
Improved load senseing and software makes it harder to hide stealing the leccy for a 20k+ grow and percieved threat from thermal imageing has downsized many attic growers.
Changes in the law are makeing landlords inspections on rented property a problem as well and HSE are makeing industrial property difficult.

Might just be the construction industry but have seen changes in the users over the last twenty years.
Used to be a minority smoked now the other way around in 18 - 25 men and many seem to spend a lot of time trying to find weed and complaining about the quality.

And the quality now is pretty much rock bottom but at least the glassed/brixes stuff has gone at least for now.
What is available is very wet with little or no drying and a poor trim ending up as around 70% original weight or worse , seems a fast hydro forced hybrid taken too early with little taste or hit and barely fit for bubblebags by a growers standards.

But even at £200 an ounce they can sell all there is to be had by new year.

Worth getting to know some Polish workers as they usualy get better bud from a diferent source to the usual pakigreen/eurotrash.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to pruchase decent weed atm. I can get hold of some nice buds (only about 10% THC but tasty). Only problem is the matey who sells it wont sell it in anything less than a 1/4 for £50. Gunna get me a 1/4 of this just after Christmas though for sure. But as a student I prefer to by it by the 1/16 (teenth) or in 1/8's due to cash flow problems. I'm moving into a bigger flat in June when I get my job as an Electrician so I'm hoping to get a loft grow going, Hopefully growing about 30 plants! Untill then I'll just have to cut down. Boooooo

quality cheese is now £160 on the oz and easily commanding 50 a q (more like 6 gramm) and rightly so when u compare it to viet wet ,

current price for cheese in a dutch coffeshop would be approx £30-35 an eighth an uk dealers get moaned at for asking £20 tut ,a gram of cheese in new york cost you a leg lol

uk has the cheapest weed prices and its about time we moved in line with the rest of the world ,,,

To be honest mate, Its good stuff and finding GOOD stuff around my parts lately has become something of a rareity. I'm not bothered about paying £50 for a 1/4. I'm more bothered that he wont sell me an 1/8. The bastard!
