Why Do You Consume Cannabis?

For me cannabis is a fiber in the fabric of my life. It is just as important to my mental and physical health as food, water and sex. I do however take small breaks from using it but only to increase its effect. What is odd to me is that some of the people that need cannabis the most (like my wife) don't like it and refuse to see its obvious benefits. I never really trust someone that doesn't love the herb.

it is the very spice of life for me. whatever I am doing, looking at, listening to, eating etc, it makes it better like putting salt on your French fries or butter on your popcorn. no, I don't need it, don't have to have it, but the same could be said for hugs from my wife and talks with my kids in relaxed moments. it has been part of my life off and on since 1968, and it will continue to be in some fashion until I die. I love to sit in the spring woods while the world comes to life, listening to the birds coming awake, burning one while waiting to hear that first turkey gobble...:woohoo:

Ever sit in the woods get real, real stoned and forget where you are. Not lost just bewildered? I have, it's funny afterwards. LOL :tiphat:

I turn to different strains of cannabis for different reasons. Some to help me relax or sleep. Some for pain. Some for creativity. Some for the mental clarity....helps me arrange my thoughts and beliefs giving me insight.

But one of the most important reasons is in the social aspect. There is nothing better than catching up with an old or new friend and having a little smoke session. Sets the mood for good conversations and really sets a positive vibe to the time together.

...after all, the smile it puts on your faces is equally therapeutic to the herb itself!

I am classified as "emotionally disturbed" due to life long mental illness (diagnosed pre teen). Some of it is of biological influence (bipolar adhd) and others are environmental (BPD, PTSD) above and beyond other nifty diagnosis.

The bottom line is, even after a year of institutionalization my prognosis was bleak, 6 months before suicide or permanent institutionalization)

This is a tip of the iceberg summary, but the bottom line is I am functional and mentally sound, not due to modern medicine but due to marijuana.

I have spent years in professional care and then years experimenting with alternative treatments and I can articulate the effects from a psychological view point.

Our minds are programmed by our experiences, our actual biology is effected by the input of our senses.

This programming can lead to very unproductive mindsets.

I believe we intuitively know this on a subliminal level but often don't have an understanding of the underlying causation to allow us to see it consciously.

Marijuana is a vehicle that allows us to escape this influence of experience, both biological and environmental (which still expresses biologically as well).

PTSD is an excellent example.

I would often have very traumatic memories triggered that would paralysis me or change my mood drastically, putting me in such bad places it would debilitate me.

Just leaving the house made this almost unavoidable.

If I smoked and got high enough, those memories didn't come when I experienced things, or at least the emotion that would be associated with them was not.

It gave me the capacity to create new pleasant memories around the same stimulus which then allowed my mind in the future to go to a different place when recalling memories triggered by the same stimulus.

It is proven marijuana creates new neuro pathways so there is even scientific basis for this observation as well as anecdotal evidence from others that suffer from PTSD.

Marijuana saved my life, quite literally. To me it is a civic duty to disobey immoral laws such as marijuana prohibition based on its medicinal effect on our species.

Ive personally witnessed the benefits of cannabis on those with ADHD and PTSD. A kid I grew up with was on all kinds of meds for his ADHD and bipolar diagnosis. When He was on these meds he was an emotional loose cannon. Never knew what kinda mood he was gna be in or what to expect. When we started smoking, he realized his mood was stable, his emotions were stable, and he was no longer that touchy dude you had to watch what u say to..(unless he got into the booze, but thats another story). He actually cut out all of his meds, as long as he had bud. He didnt need his meds, and was a more stable mind and personality. Once we realized this I made sure he never ran outta weed.
Another Vietnam war vet I know, Ive witnessed benefit immensely from cannabis. He had a plethora of mental issues since coming back from the war. He couldnt even sleep without cannabis. Its truly a wonderful medicine

Overgeneralize much? You float a common misconception that likely doesn't sit well at all with most people who were abused. Generally accepted statistics show that people who are abused become abusers only about 5% of the time.
Seriously? I admit to being abused by someone who herself was abused, and you criticize me?

I think that's the final one for this fucking site. I'm so out of here.

The commonly accepted statistic regarding how many abused children grow up to become abusers themselves is about 33%, actually. But while it's close to impossible to know the exact numbers, because of what goes unreported and what gets lied about, most psychologists believe that number is much higher, based on anecdotal information gathered from their own practices.

Back on topic though.

You ask why

I ask, why not

But tbh

Its a celebration of life, its a nice feeling
Is nice for different occasions

I started in my younger days, high school
Would smoke for the first time on occasions, got introduced to it by friends

Then wed smoke every lunch time
It was a communal thing, me and my buddies as well as a lot of people from school would head out to the spots, it brings people together

Then i started smoking in the morning before school as well, simetimes htting pipe during breaks but that was dangerous

It was thing thing of mine, this thing of ours

I sort of built a relationship with the plant, so have millions of others on this planet

I smoke before Work, after work, relaxation , sleep preparation (strong indica)
Before a nice meal , before an event
Hanging out with some buddies

Taking it easy

I smoke 2 joints before I smoke 2 joints, and then I smoke 2 more

I can smoke as much as my body lets me, and i will be fine, sometimes strange or weird
But nothing like banging some liquor

Its a soft drug

People need something to ease off the edge in this stressfull system

Something that isnt gonna kill you in the long run (alcohol, tobacco)

Marijuana affects sleep, memory, hunger

Sometimes people give stoners s hard time, for their memory being a ffected, short term memory

And honestly, with all the garbage being thrown our way (consciously and subconsciously) marijuana helps by letting us go of alot of garbage

I dont think kids should be smoking it, and wouldnt encourage teens to do it, but if your gonna do it, better you do it in a safe place. Marijuana might not ruin your life but a cop might..

I joked before, that I smoke because of the voices in my head.

Seriously, cannabis has been my friend since I was in secondary school. My cousins were in the business and so I never paid for it. I had my choice of huge piles before packaging for export to the USA. I would grab what I wanted and then ride my motor cycle to where the tourist gathered and in that I started to learn English. I made enough money to buy nice clothes and eventually a car. I was driving a car at 14 years old lol.

But back to the point my friend is cannabis. It has opened a lot of doors and helped me meet some important people of like thinking. People that think outside the box and don't believe everything their governments tell them. I am free when I smoke, free from the stress of the world and sometimes on a journey into my own mind.

You've gotta try Risk..

Start early it takes longer when everyone is stoned.

I used to play Risk with my old friends from high school. :) Drinking tends to speed it up, since everyone gets overconfident and makes bad choices.

Scrabble is a game I wouldn't recommend when you're high. "Box? B-O-X? Is that a word?"

Very strange thing I find is if there is something you want to do or focus on, you can rise above all the messyness of acid and be completely clear and in control (not always!).
I swear that with darts, it seemed like I was cheating and it was to easy to drop one in wherever, and with pool sometimes you can almost see the lines like in the old computer games
