I was satisfied with Nirvana's "afghaan" from 20 or so years ago. Very uniform...decent smoke. There's probably better though.
I’m not sure, but i may have recommended Afghan Kush by World Of Seeds in this thread earlier but i have to change my view after i grew some of the Afghan Kush they sell nowadays.
...today it’s nothing like what it was when they first released it. Far as i’m concerned they really ruined the line.
Today many plants seem to have menthol smell on them while the seeds i bought 10 years ago had none of that. The menthol smell is quite strong on veg plants but on the buds it’s surprisingly weak. Potency and aromas have gone down the drain. Effects are worse too.
The first version i grew was unstable but there was some real gem hash plants to be found if you got lucky or grew enough seeds. Today it’s still unstable, with many different phenotypes, but now it’s just unstable crap.
Stay away. I’m not gonna grow them again.
I grew WOS Afghan Kush outdoors in pots in 2019. It grew quite well for me, but it’s clearly a very worked strain that can’t be considered in the same light as current strains from actual Afghan farmers.
That's one that I'm kicking myself for not buying a few packs of. Those were stupid cheap at Hemp Depot 6 or 7 years ago.I liked my Lapis Mountain Indica. I got a couple pics on my grow thread and on seed finder if ya want to look.
Good too knowIf you’re talking about Dutch Passion’s Mazar then it’s actually an Afghan-Skunk, not a pure Affie.
Does anybody know if Mazar was created out of Nevil’s Super Skunk or is it a Skunk-afghani DP created themselves?
Absolutely. In an ideal world absent colonialism i.e. the British Raj, there would be no Durand Line artificial border between the two made-up countries we call Afghanistan and Pakistan, but rather a Pashtunistan.I've noticed the idea of borders between Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan are very much Western imposed ideas. These are peoples who do a lot of traveling throughout these regions.
Yup. You definitely know your shit. Almost sound like Charlie Wilson.Absolutely. In an ideal world absent colonialism i.e. the British Raj, there would be no Durand Line artificial border between the two made-up countries we call Afghanistan and Pakistan, but rather a Pashtunistan.
Or maybe not even that, one of the things the West never figured out during its 20 year failed exercise in nation-building is that substantially independent tribal societies don’t want to be subject to central government control. Hell, I just ended ten years as an elected executive official in my own town, and after that experience I’m not so sure federalism even works all that well to provide basic public services and infrastructure in America anymore. So I can hardly blame the folks over there for fighting to boot us out and rid themselves of control by home-grown crooks like Karzai and Ghani.
I love my 1980s Kandahar ('Black Afghani' from Underground Seeds Co). It is as pure an indica as can be found since this is the region in which Schults described Cannabis sativa indica. Honestly some of the finest buds out there!
Very blueberry dominant. But, there are many other scents to be found in the batch.Do you often get blueberry terps in those plants, i think it was mentioned somewhere? Any photos?
Maybe the old US clone ”the black” is also from the region ? It seems to breed blueberry terps and looks similar to USC Kandahari black.Kandahar and Patika provinces are where BB and GDP come from, so that makes sense
My last grow had one that was very similar to GDP.Kandahar and Patika provinces are where BB and GDP come from, so that makes sense
I grew this WOS Afghan Kush quite a few years ago and it was one of the nicest and easiest growing plants I ever grew. And probably the nastiest smoke I ever grew. Tasted like a bonfire and at that time I was on top of my game so it was very frustrating trying to figure out what I did wrong. Ended up getting rid of her but I still think about her to this day. Oh well........
That's funny because it is sometimes marketed as a 'pre-soviet' afghani to imply its purity.MLI is not a pure afghani, Nevil used a Skunk1 male in it also.+ three different Maple Leaf -Afghani females
..yea, i need to pop some of my MLI too once i have some room
Here’s Nevil on MLI when he was at MNS forums..
Q: "..maple leaf indica according to Ed R (same book) is: Female Ortega15 x Sam afghan skunk X male Skunk 18.5. Any idea if this is correct?"
I don't know what Ed is calling Maple leaf.
Ortega 15 was Maple leaf. This was crossed with AfgTx Sk and AfgS x sk males.
AfgT and AfgS were both sisters and pure maple leaf. Maybe Ed thought that AfgS meant Afg(Sam). It doesn't. The hybrid Ed is talking about is 3/4 Maple Leaf.
