I recognised haze, sweet tooth, and something else in your cross but I didn't recognise another abbreviation..and I was wondering if you were using a local root stock in your crosses. :chin: to acclimatise.
(In the UK..you would say that Mossy needs to know, "the far end of a fart..."
but if I don't ask...I don't learn..)
I am a Gardener..with TOO many years experience to mention...
but this is my First season with canna.
it's skunk that something else. an american friend gave them to me. great plants.
i had Sweet tooth#3 x Haze/Skunk - now gone
and Bubblegum x Haze/Skunk - 3 seeds left :yummy:
i wouldn't use the genetics here unless i was growing hemp for rope making. it's all industrial/ruderalis hemp. aka ditch weed that wouldn't get you stoned in a bilion years. :badday:
in my experience i have learned that the best way to learn or find out something is to ask. a second thing is that if you want to be the best at what you do, you must study, study, study...so hit the books. :sasmokin: i kidd...you are a great gardener. your grow gave me some ideas i might use in the future.

Thanks Gantz..it was the Bbg..Bubblegum..that had me stumped.. :pointlaug
and I wanted to understand what you had put "in" to get the plant "shape".
I have my Breeders Bible to read on the down time..but I haven't had much down time yet..
When Mossy was a kid,.. all.. small/medium sized.. commercial growers, bred tomatoes the way are doing now with the Canna. For shape, taste, yield, colour..etc
I pollenated for my pocket money...from about 8 years old..
Plus the area that I grew up in North East UK is FAMOUS for competitive growing..so I have grown as long as I can remember..just not canna..
the Guys excuse me the odd Stupid question..and I pass on my age old gardening tips.... :D :D :D
We have had some Fun..
(and the fact that smOkeateer has a few more grey hairs by the end of the season....)
well..why worry...we are growing the right stuff to counteract the pressure... :joint: :joint: ha ha ha.
and I did them all proud in the end..and..
I made Them all into brilliant "remote" trainers..multi-skilling... :D

When I first Met the Gang..February..this year.
I had killed 1 grow..I was well on the way to killing the second..(mutant grow lamp)..
I didn't hardly use a camera..I had never talked on a forum...or a chatroom..
and I had never even Seen a female canna plant...
so they have trained me real well...

mind..I would go up against ANYONE..with Tomatoes, Clematis, Fuschias or Geraniums... :D :D :D :D

you would have to explain what you ment by to get the plant "shape". my English is good enough for a Cambridge Proficency test but those things are expensive here...
i can't understand what you mean by that. be specific man.

having experience in the garden, no matter what plants you've grown, will give you an advantage when growing our sacred plant..or any other plant for that matter. matijuana is a weed, a plant like all plants. use the same common sense you used when growing other plants and you can not go wrong.
i've seen your 2006 balcony grow and those plants don't look like they've been grown by a n00b imho...

keep doing what you're doing...it seams to be working :joint:

yeah i must say mossy has gone from new pot gardener to pro in a shorter amount of time than most people. but we can all still improve our gardens right? mossy my english is good and you kinda stunted me on shape also you mean the physical shape of the plant?

Gantz..your English is fantastic.
You have my admiration, it is my mis-use of the language that is causing problems.

Shape = :canabis:
Growth pattern, appearance, symetry.
Mossy likes "tufty" plants...
good vigorous growth, good colour, Balance,
the distance between the leaf nodes, the height-width ratio and the quality of the growth.
It is the things that I have been taught to look for in my growing..and your crosses have it ALL... :yummy: :yummy: :yummy:
You are obviously a very good grower-breeder.

This year my breeding was more luck than judgement...and it Did work out..but next year..I want to KNOW what I am doing...

The Guys have turned me into a Bud Monster... :sasmokin:

(I am definitely going to breed the BEST medical Canna, the world has ever seen...it just might take me a few years... :D :D :D )

I was feeling a bit sorry for my seedlings..they have been mucked about. I wanted to give them a tonic..but not vegging ferts..as the nitrogen may affect the M/F ratio.
So I made them a cup of sugar water..just one tablespoon to the watering can..and they virtually doubled in size overnight.

but good strong growth..not stretch..I am impressed.
Nothing has died yet..

ive never heard of using sugar water. but i have used nitrogen every time growing and i dont think it affected my male to female ratio any but anything is possible. what kind of soil are you using?

M

mossy

same old, same old smOke..stuff I have used all year...but I have it nearer 50/50 vermiculite this time.
The seedlings didn't Need a tonic..I just thought that they would appreciate a little TLC..
They were germed outdoor...less than 12 hour natural light cycle..freezing night temps..then bunged into the cupboard..18-6 light cycle..with warmth..different watering cycle..I thought they needed a little comfort food.

:pointlaug okay..okay..I admit it..I spoil them.. :petting: but they seem to appreciate it.

No idea smOke..what I found interesting though was that the product seems to be used on cereal crops..so should be okay on consumables :joint: ..I am going to contact them direct, to confirm.
I bought the vigorizador..early on in my season..but I didn't try it. Once I get the early patio grow going..I will run a test..as long as they say it is okay for food crops.
Could be handy if you are trying to get a jump start on the season and get caught out by a cold snap.

LOOKS okay..
and I want to get a jump on the season if I can..so it could be handy.

i understand now it must have been a misprint...but we're not in 2nd grade anymore so it doesn't matter.
i have 3 seeds left from those plants and if you want them i'll send them to you after the holidays...only if you promise me you'll offer them a loving home, good soil for them to stretch their roots, sun and lots of love... i know it's not much but i don't know if i'll ever get to growing them.
i am not the breeder. some dude made them and was kind enough to give them to me.
even the Guerilla Gaiden i gave my friends grew was made by accident...i admit it is a heavy yielder but i can't take credit for it...mother nature can.

Mossy you are the man...:respect:
Using a little sugar with your water is a good idea, which kind of sugar did you use? Using normal sugar works, but if you use a sugar that is in a rawer form, or even a molasses type of stuff your plants will be able to use the sugar easier. Although I've really only heard of using sugars during late flowering for increased smell/taste and just all around frostier plants, seems your plants love it in veg.
Anyways.. I am lovin your garden, can't wait to see how they finish. :woohoo:
It's friday! :bongsmi:

I'm still smoking this hash, the high is just crazy.. out of controll.. I love it :sasmokin:
Your selection looks very nice also Mossy :canabis:

Using molasis in veg isnt bad, just helps feed shit in the soil that are often symbiotic with plants, I am gonna start using it when my plants are well established outside to help enoculate the soil and roots with the good stuff.
