I guess he lives in tropical or a very warm area, because in northern climates it's hard to beat quality grown and cared-for indoor herb. You have to have really nice, proper selected genetics that resist humidity/bugs, finishes quickly, a greenhouse and enough sparetime to love the plants to get A+ outdoor here,

I think you ve nailed it there hammer,
the level of care ,
and the climate ,
if any outdoor herb is given the level of care most indoor is,
and grown in the best climate for it ,
its very hard to beat, id venture to say unbeatable ...

Just so its clear to some,
there is no such thing as an indoor plant ,
they are all from outdoors ,
that is their home and where they will be happiest ..

Although I totally agree that well cared for land race bud that is grown in its natural climate can be top notch stuff the second part of what you said about there being no such thing as an indoor plant is no longer true.

Much like a miniature poodle we have radically changed the genetics and growth characteristics of our commercial cannabis through selective breeding to the point where if you were to put many of the more heavily worked strains out in nature they would die as quickly as that miniature poodle.

A lot of these poly hybrid strains we have created have been bred to thrive in pampered indoor conditions for dozens of generations now. Often they require nutrient levels you just won't find in nature and they have thick chunky bud structures that mold will just completely decimate if you were to leave the plant out in the elements. This is most true of our heavily worked indica hybrids, many of which have been bred to thrive in such unnatural conditions as hydro for years.

A lot of the traits we humans find aesthetically pleasing are actually terrible as far as survivabillity goes in the wild.

I think as a general rule of thumb, if you are a sativa fan then well cared for outdoor plants are just about as good as it gets. If you like indica hybrids then it's hard to beat a well cared for indoor grown plant since a lot of those plants are no longer well suited for outdoor survival.

There are some great bud shots in this thread of both outdoor and indoor. That Gorilla Glue looks crazy frosty. How are the effects on it? I imagine it's quite strong but is it more of a happy upbeat sativa effect or more of a knock out, glue you to your couch indica effect? Personally I am a big sativa fan.

do you have some proof or is it just talk because of some good joint???

many of the best modern indica hybrids like sour diesel, blueberry or haze x skunk, nlhaze etc. grow much better outside than in hydro..

of course let talk good outdoor up to 45 N and when weather is sunny and warm.. of course...

I've been smoking mostly outdoor bud for the past few years..

but I take care of my plants and the buds turn out looking like this.

and this

I've had some really shitty indoor bud.. generally, the indoor bud will look better and undisturbed, their terpene profiles will be different, having grown the same plants indoor and outdoor, usually the indoor bud has a more defined aroma than the outdoor. the buzz is also a little different, less prominent outdoors, that might just be a thc thing though.

Your right about the aroma being defined indoors, where in outdoors aromas are more complex but many plants carry the same smells.

there's always something more outdoors, i can't place my finger on it.. the green one has more of a urine, metallic smell to it indoors but outdoors it seems a little less so..

the purple indoors smelled like straight frankincense, peppery, some wild mint too.. the taste was creamy incense with a bitter note.. outdoors, it smelled a little fruitier and botanical in some ways, like dead leaves and the taste wasn't as interesting.. the smoke didn't taste quite as good.. the buzz was also much more spaced out indoors.. I wonder if it has to do with temperature, light spectrum or a mix of all those things.

Burningfire, those look great, especially the green outdoor. Outdoor can be bomb. Soilquality is a big factor too, I guess that's why many on the WC grows in raised beds with bought pro-soil, easier to flush as well.
