Should have listened to entropical and gotten the $52 CMH bulb for your HPS ballast. Son T Plus will grow nice buds too though.

Che, thx for ur opinion however i cant get every light that some1 has suggested, so i went with the SON T Plus after further research. Some of the lights suggested are not available to me being in the UK but sound amazing lights.

I replaced my 600 HPS with 2x400 CMH, and I'll never look back..
Just checked Advancedtechlighting, and they do ship to the UK, so you might be able to get a CMH if you wanted. It sounds like you already got a bulb, but I wanted to make sure you knew they would ship CMH to you.

Good luck with your grow!

I have tried lots of bulbs over the years, and imo the main difference between expensive (e.g. Hortilux, Solarmax, Etc.) and standard HID bulbs is seen in the growing habit of plants, not necessarily in yield or potency. I love my Hortis for the extra blue, because in my setup it is important that I have plants with a dense growing habit, although now I run a 3:1 mix with Horti's SuperBlue MH and F'ing love them. One thing I will say is that if you are going to go with a standard HID, purchase one from a reliable manufacturer (e.g. Phillips) and not just the cheapest one you can find on the internet, as I've had several generic standard HIDs underperform compared to more reliable brands (I used to work in a growshop, and we used to test standard bulbs that we could get a good deal on to see if we wanted to stock them). To cut off my stoned rambling and make a short story long, I think you'll dig the SON-T, they work well.

I have used the phillips son agro 430 watt continously, it only costs me 49$, 20$ more than a standard 400 watt(27$) and a lot less than the hortilux at 89$. I just harvested 5 oz from a single thai (20 + weeks flower) with the the 430 son agro. :headbange

Do u use the phillips son agro 430 watt for both veg/flower? If yes how many weeks for veg?

SON-T+ Has more light at the red end of the spectrum = flower producer

The Agro puts out more blue light = biomass producer

Using the Agro should theoretically produce more plant, but the SON-T+ will produce bigger flowers

CFLs for veg are fine, lots of blue light, if you can only get one HPS/HID get the SON-T+ and veg with cfl

will u be able to use the son-t plus for both veg and flower?

I buy the cheapest lamps I can find, I really don't see the difference between my $89 GrowLux, etc., or my $12 generic ... the plants haven't yelled at me, yet :canabis:
