Nigerian is indeed a very unique Afropips marijuana seed. She is a pure sativa which has never been crossed with any other strains and therefore contains all original African landrace characteristics. She is incredibly strong, with moderate growing difficulties and produces great yields of quality marijuana. According to a legend, this cannabis variety was found in the Yoruba Kingdom about 700 years ago. That was allegedly a place where the world was created by the God Obatala. He created the mankind out of clay and appointed the first human, Oduduwa, to be a king of Yoruba. They say that Obatala and Oduduwa wore clothes made of hemp and smoked cannabis for medical and spiritual purposes. Nowadays, many of the cult-groups of the city celebrate the creation of the world while smoking Nigerian marijuana during the Itapa festival.
As a typical sativa, Nigerian seeds produce elegant plants with a dominant stem and a good branching. Being pure sativa, she doesn't grow that tall and remains her 70 cm which make her No.1 indoor skunk. It's not recommended to cultivate Nigerian seeds outdoors as out climate is not that suitable for this hot African beauty. However, some experienced cannabis farmers tested her indoors and got great result. They confirm a good performance of this variety in Northern Hemisphere where a harvest starts at the end of September.
No particular difficulties have been noticed during the vegetative period, she show great performance under usual 12/12 light cycle. It' natural for sativas to have a longer period to grow and mature. However, this legendary marijuana takes only 8 weeks before showing the first flowers with well developed tops. There are loads of bud sites along the main cola that actually makes her yield as great as 350 gr. per m2. Buds seem to be less dense but who minds? THC content is still high - 20%. Cured buds have a lemon tea aroma. Smoking Nigerian is like going back to good old days because of her aromatic hash smell and taste.
Because of its higher content over CBD, Nigerian's high is very powerful cerebral, taking you to the land of dreams and illusions. Make sure you have a day off to fully enjoy the pleasure from this dark African lady.

Full Product Description
Afropips Swazi Red is a African landrace sativa with the origin from the Nikomati region of Swaziland. Warm African weather has been a good back up for local cannabis strains to develop their full potentials. Swazi Red is a pure Swazi Roibaard, a marijuana with strong genetics and an interesting look. She got her name from the preponderance of red hairs in the compostion of the bud. In South Africa it is known as "Roibaard", the Afrikaans word for red beard.
Seeds of this very powerful marijuana behave is a typical sativa way. While growing, they build a formation of elegant plants with strong colas and good branching. Pruning is sometimes recommended to keep the natural wildness of this bred under control. Some cannabis farmers prefer to grow Swazi Red outdoors for her outstanding height, some samples can grow as tall as 3 m. However, indoor cultivation is not difficult; she performs well in all settings.
Typiclly, these pure sativa seeds take longer to grow and mature than her indica counterpartner. However, 13 weeks is not that bad for a sativa. First bud formations may appear already on the12th or even 11th week. Swazi Red is extremely resinous. Buds can reach the size of an adults forearm and covered with sticky juicy red hair are full of THC which is said to be as high as 20%. Higher THC counts over CBD produce a clear headed, energetic type of high. This marijuana strain has a strong odour, which has been compared to a fine cigar.
Like any other sativas, Swazi Red require more light, however, 12/12 light cycle is good enough for her to produce good yield. Outdoor harvest starts in November. The final product has a long shelf life and keeps a strong African hash smell and taste for ages.

i'd love to see an effort to bring some nigerian hybrids back to the table. it would be great to match it with something short statured for easy growing while keeping the nigerian effects up front.

really trippy stuff.

Seedsman took over Afropips. They were so kind as to send me a round disc with Nigerian landrace gear. Great guy that Tom Hill is!

I'll go try to dig Afropips descriptions up. He unfortunately passed before I became familiar with his work.

Didn't a relative continue to run Afropips for little while? Sounds like the owner had a great time growing and breeding the killer landraces. A large variety of wild animal shit for composted fertilizer too.

All i Can share is the info from afropips. These are both f2's, made in a open pollination. The Nigerian was from a batch of 40 seeds bought years back. I Kept the best gal and pollen from all the males mixed in a few containers. I have 6 original seeds left. So I will most likely dust the clone and start the original 6 looking for some new gals as-well.

As for the red beard I have 20 original seeds that I can do run from.

I have many land races in my possession, and intend to add a few more. I have only collected 3 personally. The remainder have been sourced over the years.

Sometime ago, I was looking for landraces to create my very own hybrid with, and also to continue the ancient lines. I was mailed a round, clear plastic disc that said Nigerian. They've been in cold storage, no time as of yet. It was Nigerian Nightmare then. No offense, but the name slum is cheap and defamatory, and doesn't give respect to the breeder or his strain.

My best guess would be Nigeria.

I resisted saying the same thing and I am glad I did because it would have been redundant. I hope this doesn't come off wrong, but sincerely, you'd be surprised what comes up on Google when you search by...you guessed it... Nigerian cannabis seeds. Some of what came up is no good (Afropips is no more I think), but there is probably at least one good source out of what I saw. I hope you find what you're after, because I had a relative share what he jokingly called ugumby from uganda and it was simply amazing smoke, the likes of which I have not seen since. Yeah, it was unreal, spicy, slightly sweet ultra resinous....just WOW! It would command top dollar even today, but this was back in the 80's.

Alright but since this is the Nigerian seeds thread I thought I'd see if there was any breaking news on seeds :p
Any nigerian strains that grow oddly? or put out weird shaped leaves?

Top Dawg seeds has a few interesting Nigerian hybrids out right now. On rare occasion Bodhi puts out a Nigerian.

Cannabiogen just released a Ghana line.
