where to find romulan in 2015?

hmm I see...

I have tried peppery herbaly spice romulan before and while it was good it wasn't the stuff of legends.

The stuff I am talking about I forgot to mention also had a rosemary spruce smell that bridged the christmass tree(bolsam fir) to the sour sop tropical fruit smell.

the smell translated very well to the flavor and tasted like spruce beer and soursop.

It was absolutely the stuff of legends.

"Piney, sprucey, balsam firy, evergreeny"...Never smelled soursop (had to google it to find out what it was). LOL

hmmm...

was the redbull kind of tropical fruit like?

any inbetween phenols?

because the rom I am talking about didn't seem to have any pepper to it at all.

When I say peppery, I guess I mean a 'similar' sort of pepper/anise/spice hint, reminiscent of good Durban Poison. Geezus, it's some hard to describe tastes and smells..."it just smelled awesome and smoked just as good"!!! :)

haha yeah when I tried that rom it had this very distinct tropical fruit flavor I had never experienced. Then like 7 years later in mexico I got this fruit blended in water drink and it hit me this is exactly the smell of the trolpical fruit from that romulan. In mexico they called the fruit guanabana and it is IMVHO the pinnacle of fruit flavors.

It is worth investing in some good quality guanabana just to try the flavor it is that good and trying it for the first time was like on the level of how I imagine trying ice cream for the first time for a infant is like. It is like trying chocolate for the first time.

There's a 'Grape Romulan' out there also, know nothing about it but I see it rearin' it's head from time to time.

heh yeah I can easily get pretty obsessive about smells and flavors. Most of my favorite herbs tended to have very distinct terpene profiles and when I would imagine crossing stains it always comes down to my nose with me.

Like the rom I tried seemed complete like nothing needed to be added to it. If anything it would be the ultimate strain to improve the purple norcal lines.

While my personal favorite, the yumboldt seemed like it was missing something.

I once had a grap rom cross in seedform but my ex took those when she left.

well does the rom you posses BUdman have a very lucid quality to it the effect?

Yup, lucid, euphoric, relaxing...yet doesn't drag you down and out. An excellent all around high. Not to say I haven't gotten a hangover the next morning from late nite binges! LOL

yeah def preserve that one man. Maybe x to that Burmese keeper you got there too. It seems as if the feds romulan and visc Burmese are no longer available on the commercial market.

Real indica Dom, frosty and the flavour reminded me of red bull. Ran them all twice and tossed them, good, but not my thing...

I liked the Christmas tree/ pepper one better and from my understanding that is closer to the federation version and the original clone.

Wondering if the clone only is still alive somewhere....I hope so.

man... me too.

I have no idea from which lineage or generation the stuff I tried came from but I can't even imagine the original cut being better, honestly just not sure if it is possible.

I have tried about 10 batches of 'good' romulan since 'the romulan' that all seemed severely lacking in the smell and flavor.

Raskal's Rom x's sound high end too me...;)

I just checked those out... They do seem high end but unfortunately I don't like OG genetics particularly. In my mind if someone had "the romulan" I will now designate it with "the" to talk about the romulan I compare all romulans to and it was just a cut other than selfing I think dusting it with some feds romulan pollen or gdp or something like pine tar kush would be ideal.

I imagine the Legendary status stuff is out there somewhere I would just like to see it in my stash. Or brought to market. It would be a shame if they went the way of the Dodo.

Romulan still seems relatively popular and available here in Portland, though I can't speak to it's legitimacy, it's never been my bag. A quick scan of a half-dozen local dispensaries I know carry clones shows two of them claiming to have romulan, and if you wanted to comb leafly deeply you could probably find a dozen sources around the state:

https://www.leafly.com/dispensary-info/rose-city-oreganics/menu
https://www.leafly.com/dispensary-info/sweet-leaf-illusions/menu

Anybody with valid ID can buy up to 4 clones from Oregon dispensaries these days, and depending where you're located it might be just as cheap/efficient as trying to pheno hunt through a pack or two of premium seeds/crosses....you just have to get 'em home somehow. There's even a couple folks currently on the PDX Craigslist with romulan clones available at the moment, depending on how brave/risky you are.

I still see next generation romulan offered places, so much talk about rom over the years I am surprised to see absolutely no one seems to grow Nex Gen's or if they do they dont talk about it.

so am I. Although what I do tend to hear is that it doesn't stack up to Federations. I really don't know but I have tried romulan grown by others that was said to be from next gen and I found it to be good weed but was very different to "the romulan." In what I tried I noticed elements in the high that resembled "the romulan" in the same way slim jims resemble Italian dry cured sausage. It could just be the phenol they got and maybe it takes several packs to find a real keeper.

That is a good idea on the leafly advice. I am wondering if the romulan you tried up there matched up with how I describe "the romulan?" I might add to the description to make it more specific I really nailed describing the palate on it though.

actually I looked at some of the romulan reviews on leafly and one of the photos looked like the romulan I remember. Years back I did a tour of dispensaries listing romulan on their menu and none of them had "the romulan"

Yeah, these days it's impossible to know what a dispensary has until you grow it out yourself. Even if they have the exact same dried flowers in stock their clones are just as likely to be from a different source, so it's almost impossible to judge.

The romulan that I was personally getting around here was second-hand from the same dude, for like a decade....I think he's still got it. It was tasty, but I thought it was most remarkable for how quickly the high wore off, so either this dude didn't have the cut/pheno you're talking about, or he wasn't doing it right.

Hmm.... it was so long ago and I don't remember if the high lasted a long time or not I had like a 1/2 lb of it and I just smoked more of it whenever I felt the desire.

I remember the palate the look and the quality of the effect it didn't seem to be lacking in potency whatsoever but if it had legs I do not recall. I remember one of the qualities of the high was time distortion it felt like a lot of time had passed over short periods of time.

It was the best smelling cannabis I have ever encountered.

Next Gen is the guy who was half of Federation seeds. Its the same Romulan. There are several phenos, always have been. The piney peppery one, the grapey one, and the one I liked best the superglue flavored one. This pic is the superglue pheno.
