Where the Droid heads at?

I have a droid 2 and it's really shitty. It was really slow when I first got it, and it was upsetting, but after a day or so it worked fine. Now a few months later the phone will reset itself, and do random shit, it's awful. My friend said to reformat it and see what happens, but this is pretty fucking pathetic.

The things these android phones do are incredible, just the phone I got is useless.

Root your phone and you can do things to fix that and improve battery life. Also custom ROMs can help a whole bunch. It is like night and day. I had to SBF my phone and this thing is horrible(to me) out of the box after everything I did to it. Oh yeah I have a Droid X

Hahahaha. Dude, that D2 is a pathetic phone. My mom is on her fourth phone in the last two months since Ive taken over her tech support. Before that she just complained and complained and complained to me about it. I got sick of the phone calls and texts and took it into my own hands. The first and third one had the random reboots and phone calls, the second one just ate battery like I eat pie. Hopefully this fourth one will work. My sisters gone through two before they switched her to the D2G.

There is a "Weed Strain Guide" app in the market that's pretty amusing. It has more listings with pics than I expected to see. Worth a snag, the version on the market is a freeb. I grabbed the full version from mobilism.

That app is awesome. Ive added and fixed a couple strains on there. Theres another one thats all about growing, but I forget the name of it. Its like a full on resource guide.

Niiiiiiiice. Bah, Im starting to think the Bolts are cursed. The MR2 update is dead in the water from what I hear. -_-

On another note, Im now replacing Droid 2 number five and D2G number three due to random reboots and weird ass issues with the screen and them calling random people at random times. FML...

Should be able to pick up my Evo3D later this week. :)
McLab, what do you think of the latest offering in the Verizon LTE lineup, the Samsung Droid Charge? Or are you not a Samsung fan in general?
Also, VZ announced they will be ending their unlimited data cellphone plans at the end of this month. Only 9 more days to get that all u can eat data package...

Not a fan of Samsung or Moto to be honest. I mean they have some good phones, but overall, Im an HTC fanboy. I just got my mom and sister upgraded to the Droid X, and its a decent phone, but motoblur is FTL. GB on it is nice, but Sense 3.0 owns Blur.

Yeah, on the seventh. Did you read into it or did you hear about it? Supposedly, those that are locked into an unlimited plan will have it for the entire life of their stay on VZW. Even if you upgrade which is REALLY nice. It saves me from paying retail for a phone.

It was one of the top stories floating around in the tech sections of the newsites.
Sounds like you'll be a VZ customer for a long time...

Guys I got ul data for 10 bucks a month..(very special discount) but even the 29.99 ul data isn't going anywhere. Theyjust aren't "offering" it anymore. Until you decide you want 4g, you get to keep your ul3g data..grandfathered in. Until you change it you will have it. I just don't need anything beyound what I have, 3g is fine and there is bootleg wifi..

I am sure there are things I can't even fathom that will require 4g and I may give up what I have, but not very fucking likely lol, I get it for 10 friggin' bucks a month so it would Havering be a sweet deal. Not to mention I use 7 to 12 gig a month on 1 device so a tiered plan would eat my ass for breakfast and shit me out for dinner and then eat me again. No thanks. Btw never once had an issue with limiting of data etcetera, nor an issue with tethering.

You do have to be a bit geeky to be really into cell phones, but geek is chic now. Besides, modern smartphones are like little pc's; there's so much you can do on them, all in a pocket-sized device.

i kinda missed the boat w/ computer tech.
i'm by no means pc ignorant, just not up to speed.
but i'm old school.
i come from the days where you fist fought if u had beef,
now everybody just pulls the trigger.
the good ole days....

one more question, and this time no sarcastic remarks by me :p
if i root my dx, can i disable all these annoying ads on my apps?
i rock the free "lite" programs ftr
if so, point a brother in the right direction please.

Frank you should head over to mobilism.org and find the pirated full versions of those apps you use which have ads. Rooting your device will not remove them. Only by having the full versions of the app will you be rid of the annoying ads. So pay up, or be a pirate like me.

To root mine I just had to enable debugging mode and click root. And if i ever need to undo this there's an unroot button to muse also.

EDIT: I also had turn on the function to allow my phone to install 2nd party software

Hey Frank if your looking for free tethering, there's an app EasyTether, its free, free version you can't go to secure sites though, $10 for not free app? Anyway, you just install it on your phone, then install the computer version on your computer, there's directions with it that walk you through it, pretty easy, just gotta read carefully. I did this on a non-rooted LG Optimus (sprint). gluck, hit me up if you need more details.
