Where is Bullrider from again? Oh yea, SD!

What uuuup, that's right I said it, BR is from San Diego. At least that's what I read in the cannabible. It feels good to know a top notch popular strain was developed so close to home, but then again I'm located near the west coast and a lot of shit starts over here! This Bullrider that I have pictures of right now is the same BR I've been getting for years. I've been told the grower is close to home, and he grows by hydro indoor. Usually I'll put the word in that his harvest's seem a bit premature and I know the word gets back to him. This harvest is pretty dank, he let it go longer for sure, but I don't think it's properly flushed. Hah! Sorry maybe I'm an ass, I am just picky but it doesn't burn fully white, instead it is grey. It taste's like lemons like always, and smells fuckin zesty as fuck! Like lemons, and it has always smelled like this. The calyxs are fat and plump, not super dense like OG but more haze. I've always thought it was more sative. The high is great, but I honestly smoke a lot during the day and couldn't totally feel what the high was giving me lol. Ocean Beach was the home of the Bullrider. Allegedly it is afghan x Hawaiian haze. I have never seen pure Bullrider, but a lot of Afghan/Bullrider, also from OB. Would love to try the real deal. I have been growing A/B for 2 years now. P-91 and Jedi are also Dago strains that I grow for med patients.

You getting this from a dealer or med club?

this is from a dealer. afghan and hawaiin? Theres no wonder why it's so sativa. I actually have one baby jedi seedling right now, very uniform in growth. But supposidly this jedi is from oregon...Nice fuckin BR shots casual grower! Thanks for replies as well. Pops, do you have any pictures of your grow? Id love to see some live AB. Thanks guys!

P91, hogs and bullrider are all oldish favorites of mine from around SD. i didn't know about jedi->SD though, haven't had it. mines a cross with a neutral indica (affie? could be, it's thickening up like hell. dunno though). thought it was something else lemony, but it looks like it's going at least 9-10, and it stinks of hay (not green, sweet) and lemon, with just some lemon zing when dry.

i would love to see some pics of your afghanBR growing too, Pops. mine surprised me, shorter by 1/2 corkscrew-ish pistils, ripens to a peach color, then fiery red.

there's a spread on the afghani BR in an old HT mag.. not sure which one, but i remember seein' it.. maybe also in the advanced nutes vids..

I think the ABR is something Marc Emery coined.. not exactly sure what the whole story is, or who did the cross/selections..

gotta love the BR...
Ever since the boys got popped a few years back, its never been the same...

Still has the same smell and taste... But i have yet to see any quality compare to what it was like say 5 years ago

well, i'm not 100% sure as it's the danimal cut.. But it's the same cut nandro/IGT grew, and a few others.. not sure if you've had a chance to try/grow it yet.. it may be the danimal cut, but no one's called it anything but the SD BR to me and what i've seen online..

not that it had a bad taste zilla, jus not the right taste for me.. I get jus as baffled as u are when CBF says he doesn't like Bubba.. but no doubt, he has the 'original'..

it's nice to mix with something a lil tastier and has great potency, jus not enough potency on it's own to keep..

I didn't grow it organic or with the best nutes/etc, also, FWIW, i haven't really liked any of the haze hybs I've tried (KKSC, Afgooey, culled both, some others), except I do not mind BD's SSH cut..

She certainly isn't a 100+ day cut tho, altho it's not ultra fast either.. so who knows


caligreen, I don't have any dry shotz stored, and only have a few nugz left.. but it matches yer description and looks the same to me, fatastic calyxes.. jus not my cup.. not a big fan of citrius/haze.. I'm all about the danky-skunky-kushy-purple taste for my personal...

there's another grow report on this cut at PG by NCR (NorCalRasta) and likely some others..


a friend is flowering my old mum out on her balcony this summer, so i can get a cut back later if need be by august.. I'll try to take some pics then.. but enviro changes the plants looks to some degree, as IGT, mine, and NCR's plants all look a lil dif, but they are no doubt the same cut..

have u smoked the original BullRider doc? if so, nuff said, case closed, danimal's plant isn't 'thee one', but jus another BR hyb/s1/whateva.. But I haven't seen anyone say anything so far about smoking/comparing it to the original, and that thread was fairly long..

I don't really care either way.. the descriptions of the undisputed real old BR have never made me really want it judging my personal tastes, no offense to those that love her.. It wasn't one I really even wanted, it jus came with some others that i did want to try..


all i know is the few peeps I gave bud to really liked the danimal plant.. i didn't..

I'd edit the 'pure' from my description if someone has smoked both and says dif.. I'd assumed u/IGT/nandro, or one of you to say outright it's not it.. so i guess i assumed a bit on my part but no one else came forward to say otherwise.. I just label my cuts as I'm given them until I see otherwise, and i haven't seen it yet anything confirming otherwise..

tis the danimal cut, tis what it is.. some people like it, some don't.. i'm of the latter..



FWIW, the above bud shots all look dif to me, so it would be pretty hard to prove one or the other is 'real'.. I'm sure they're all real to those who smoke them, and that's all that matters..

Cakligreen's pics look just like my Afghan/Bullrider, so it is possible that it is really AB, not pure Bullrider. Many peeps are growing AB and calling it Bullrider. I have no info about where the Afghan got into Bullrider. I just know that I got my cut 2 years ago in OB.Both the P-91 and Jedi are claimed to be Dago strains,but the Poway boys bred P-91 and may have also been responsible for Jedi.

My AB is a 56 day strain, so apparently the Afghan brought the flowering time down considerably. There are at least 4 phenos of AB. One is a short indica dominant, obviously taking after the Afghan side. One had sativa type stretch and growth,with enormous buds as big as coke cans. Unfortunately it didn't taste nearly as good, and I lost it when I couldn't get any of the cuts to clone. My one attempt at revegging was a total flop.

The other 2 phenos were very close in growth and appearance.Sativa growth with a balanced buzz. The only difference was in taste. I am dumping the shitty one and keeping the good one. I have never tried the stronger indica pheno, as I have only seen pictures of it in a video on growing. Probably the AN video that Bean mentioned.

I recently dusted both sativa phenos with pollen from a Princess Diesel, one of Rezdog's creations. The PD was giggle weed and my daughter enjoyed it tremendously. I look forward to trying it out in a few months as my daughter just cracked a dozen seeds.

DAMN!!! Thanks for all the information everyone!!! I AM STOKED!!! Now I know that all my friends think that they can get BR but really it's possibly ABR and that is fucking sick! I'm not sure which pheno is around me at the moment, but the bud is always the same. It can be as big as 18 gram colas, biggger I've seen. It's usually gone down in quality just as some have mentioned. JeffSpicoli your BR looks just like mine I wouldn't be surprised to hear that its kinda from the same source by the way you talk. I don't know, but it sounds like all of you guys have been in the game for YEARS! It's just awesome to see what the weed world is really like from the growing perspective. You guys are way way into your shit. I really respect that, and hopefully I'll be able to gather all this wisdom and pass it on too. PEACE EVERYONE!!!!

Oh yea forgot to mention that the P-91 was one of the first buds I got SUPER ripped off of. I went to my best friends bro's house before the football game. Took a snap out of the B of what at the time I thought was government P-91! haha man I just remember being sooo fucking high at that game and looking back at my friend to see him smiling and nodding his head yes! lol The first time I smoked Bullrider I sware to you in all honesty(remember this is when I FIRST smoked it and I was a noob smoker) I danced in this room for like an hour straight all high as fuck off the BR. It was great, me and one of my friends that still til this day actually knows the bullrider grower. LUUUCKY! haha well PEACE!!!

Just to chime in... finished off what i was told was AB in diego and i am way more than impressed. definitely leans a bit to the sativa side but throws you back too. Easily one of the best smokes i have come across. kicking myself for not taking clones. wasn't expecting this quality out of these.

On another note... driving up to LA this weekend to pick up some pre-98 bubba kush clones. if any of you guys in diego have something better or comparable closer to home and could save me the trip it would def be appreciated.
