Where can i buy the cheapest cabinet?

Hey guys -

I really want to grow in a closet for stealth, and that my closest i have to work with is a bit big for my plannet system. I plan to do 400watt hps, with a 4 tub DWC. I can't modify the closet(apartment) so i cant do anything for ventilation and odor control(reason to buy the cab).

So teh Mills Pride are like 100 bucks, is their anything cheaper without building??

Hey bro, do yourself a favor and buy something premade or whatever... building it yourself can get expensive... I did it nice and right, but still...by the time i bought the wood and screws, the paint, stain, polyurethane and caulk, doors, vents, and other assorted hardware, it was over $200... and then the light, blower, powerstrip and timer was another $300. It was alot of work, measuring, and design but im glad i did it... I just wouldnt do it again.... keep it easy ~caddy

exactly, I Do NOT want to build it. For one i have 0 tools up here, and that just wouldn't fly in the apartment building.

I'm looking for a place for a cheaper cabinent then the mills pride ones. I cant seem to find any cabinents under 100 bucks.

I was hoping someoen knew some place for cheap cabinents(stores i have are target, walmart, lowes, homedepot). And all the online sites dont have crap or i cant find anything due to their shitty search engines on the site.

i can do that easy enough, but i have no way of ventilation other then leaving hte door open.

was hoping to do something with odor control?

i was thinking of just replacing the closet door with a new door with holes in it, but i dunno if thats a good idea, incase someone comes into the apartment.

odor and ventilation was my reason to get a cabinent. hydro hut does look pimp tho

i think u missed where i was living. Apartment, no attic, if i cut holes into the ceiling the floor above me will get a nice smell.

and plus i cant modify the apartment, im only here till the end of spring semester.

your not going to get a cabinet that is less than 100 dollars that you wont have to modify with tools...so just spend the money on a hydrohut or homebox.. all you need for that is a fan, light, and homemade scrubber..

okay im gonna try to win a hydrohut mini on ebay, see if i can get it under the 200 i see em all for.

thats 3x3 should fit a nice 4 plant dwc system easy enough.

u could make one out of 6 mil poly and reflectix for the walls and a PVC or 2x2 frame but all things considered it would be cheaper to go with c13. or a simple airlock with poly in a closet would be cheapest. no modification of the existing closet is needed as far as holes etc.... and hard walls beat poly/fabric walls any day. negative pressure bends the walls and reduces efficiency of reflective materials, also it's annoying. it also reduces the amount of CFM u can use for exhuast because the amount of negative pressure that u will actually need to effectively cool the space will bend the walls to an unacceptable degree, requiring AC. my next space will have solid walls for sure!

what is that, simple airlock?

and wat was your previous setup, did you have a hydro hut or home box?

homemade pvc frame with 6 mil poly and lined with reflectix, been doin that style for awhile...almost exactly the same as the factory made growtents, before there were growtents!

airlock: i mean for instance making a second door on an existing closet (with poly and duck tape, velcro at the opening point or a zipper) then making holes at the bottom for intake, holes at the top for exhuast, in between is ur door, or have intake/exhuast to the side etc....it's hard to be accurate without a diagram...someone familiar with this method can surely chime in i hope. You seemed to indicate that you already have a nice closet but it is a little big and you don't want to make a bunch of modifications to the apartement?...if i'm correct.

Hey man, you could build your own out of wood for less than $75 fo sure. That is if you could borrow or buy a hammer and a drill, maybe a screwdriver too.

Two 4' X 8' sheets of 1/2'' particle board here would be $14 for both.

For real plywood you could get two for like $25, but all those mill's pride cabs use particle board, so I'd just say "fuckit", and use that too.

Some 2" X 2" planks, $2 a piece. You'' probably need like 4 or 5 for the size cabinet you need.

A couple metal hinges, $1

pack of wood screws, $4

box of nails, $2

Small can of paint, $5

Magnetic cabinet latch, $1

And that's pretty much it, off the top of my head anyway. Maybe spend another $3-$5 for some weather-stripping to seal out light.

At home depot and lowes they'll even cut it for you. Just make sure the measurements for the lines to cut at are right.

All you'll have to do is drill a few holes and nail/screw it together.

I just thought about it, that's pretty much the same amount of work as it takes to put together one of those prefab cabinets, maybe a little more. For a HELL of a lot cheaper though.

This is true..... especially if looks aren't important. Throw it in the closet and your good.

I use my grow box for a TV and aquarium stand..... so I went with the Mills Pride U1/U2 combo.

A LOT cleaner look.......At a LOT bigger price.

You could section of part of it with plastic as mentioned. If there's a side of the closet where there's three walls, you could just cover the whole side where it's open with plastic, and maybe a pvc frame.

But yeah, there's plenty of other folks to listen to, I mean, what the fuck do I know? I haven't even grown yet. Well, cept for some tomatos and some peppers, etc.

You should try some cab grown organic produce though: phenominal.
