Well, thank you! I had made a post, but I took to long and it vanished...I returned to see that...how kind!
I would like to start by saying that primarily, if you want an dramatically noticeable difference in all areas of plant health, add EWC to your base medium. They are magic in many, many ways. I use about 8-12% EWC, but I know some recommend as much as 20% total volume.
Kelp meal = flavor. I love kelp meal.
I noticed a dramatic increase in moisture retention and stem strength with products that have available amounts of silica.
I found a great boost in early veg growth speed with the use of rice flower and alfalfa meal, but this is for different reasons.
I noticed a dramatic increase in soil health when providing food sources to the microherd continually. Additions such as the rice flour and dry molasses contribute essential food sources and allow for greater colonization...which translates to much more vigorous root growth and better nutrient retention, resulting in fertilizer reductions.
I saw a dramatic increase in nutrient retention with the addition of leonardite based products (humic/fulvic) which resulted in further reduction of fertilizer needs.
Saw a better balance of Ca/Mg use by the plant by combining a simple blend of hydrated, pulverized, and granular dolomite limes...
Saw many direct benefits with the addition of Azomite for supplementing some of the various micro mineral needs.
This list could go on for days....honestly...every part of the equation when used in accordance can and will contribute to the success of the whole...that is just the beauty of nature!!
Hope this helps!
