spent my teen years in St. Louis. KSHE radio station turned me on to the most awesome music. 1968-1972 freeform radio. they got tons of promo records every day and played what they thought was cool. major label as well as one-offs. big labels and small labels were all treated with equality. and thats whats missing today. no diversity. no individualism. just cookie cutter " classic rock ". I am so sick of it!

First hash I smoked was some thing special brought back from Nepal...haven,t been able to repeat that high again...did try to a lot but it was never the same.....
The Beatles were magical when they first appeared to the world...and they still are IMHO. Got kicked outta high school for ever when I grew a goatee......
Met Neil Young in early seventies at a gas station I worked at in rural Nova Scotia.Partied with him and some friends that night.

A blast to have been there and done ALL of that n' then some.

I won't begin to bore ya with factual personal time line so I'm gonna toss it all together like a salad, so that at some point in time these 'ingredients had some sort of profound meaning in my 60s.

Bikes: Schwinns,Hondas, Rupps, and Harleys were a constant w/ a dash of Ducati tossed in as well (that'd be the lettuce). The war machine: Kennedy/Johnson Indochina injection of mass troops, civil rights ain't right yet, being shipped off to NYS Military Academy sitting in the shadow of West Point, turning my back on that! Revolution: Making rights right and making everything 'left' right for all (you hadda be there), true hippies being 'counter culture' minded brothers and sisters, communes, free love, making candles and soap, granny glasses and love beads. Youth hostels in europe, the spanish steps, love in Rome and roaming for love. panama red and acapulco gold with hashish all the world offered. Realizing the finest of all things are provided by nature and mother earth for all to use and enjoy.......

Hash from India that came in a ball, and was stamped(indented) with images of the sun , moon, stars and stickmen. Potent, and made me laugh uncontrollably at the worst possible times, LOL.

More memories coming back...

The first 7/11 opened in our area, what a treat. Slurpee's in the summer.

Music, well we would go down to the record store and put a dollar down to reserve the next Beatle vinyl records and hoped when they came in they were not scratched. Then we would crank up those records until our parents coudnt stand it anymore. It was important to get those records the day they were released.

Hearing the roar of the people at the horse races from miles away in the evenings was a trip.

The police station was in a mobile home on a dirt lot. Knotts Berry Farm had no fences, you would just walk in and enjoy your day and go on the rides. They bakery truck coming buy and parking in front of the house with fresh baked goods.

It was awesome.

Wow....what a trip down memory lane!!! I was born in '60...and grew up in Buena Park....so I was always at Knott's!! Yeah...the Helm's Bakery truck, fresh bottles of miklk delivered at your door-- It was a good time to be a kid--

Quite a bit of "commercial" music - pop, folk, etc being cranked out by the establishment. Hippies and pseudo hippies, narcs, "friends" getting busted and narcing on their friends, crazy-assed comix (Zap, R. Crumb, etc.), GREAT cutting edge bands like Uriah Heep, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Zappa, King Crimson, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, great weed - almost totally sativia, acid by name, social change, unheaval, Vietnam, draft card burning, feminist movement started, Jesus freaks, tie die shirts, head shops, sitar music, incense, peace & love, "rock concerts" instead of "dances", far out man, I'm hip, I can dig it, trippin.

First season of Star Trek

Star Trek on Wednesday nights.
Bill Graham shows at the Filmore West and Winterland. The Avalon Ball Room. The Allman Brothers at the Cow Palace on New Years Eve.
$25 an oz seemed outrageous for Panama Red when regs was 10, but it was worth it.

Vinyl records with scratches and noise. Long hair. Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix live concerts. One TV channel broadcasting 5-6 hours a day. And you were lucky if you could catch Radio Luxembourg (MW band) to hear the newest hits.

The 60s woo that goes way back you know, record playerss and huge drivers as speakers, the pot generaly came from either somewhere in South America or from
from East Asia. Thier was a few strains that came out in the 70s, like Haze created by the Haze brothers, Northern Light and Skunk most of the crossbreeding has been done with these major strains.

Music, POt and the 60s

In late 60s when I first started growing and smoking the bud, my firts seeds in a some buds that a friend gave me to smoke, my grandfather was ore minor had land in the hills over in Mendocino and I grew plants until they were big enough to be outisde and survie on thier own and I could drive 13 and I would get to my grandfathers old army jeep and drive out into the country and off road quite a bit and plant my trees. I would uuse the manuer I could get from the horses and cattle that was dried up and I would mixed it with the dirt I would dig up to plant my cannabis with (the backfill) and water it with a half dozen water huge water cans. The fear was not being found then by the law but having my plants be the lunch of some deer. The 60s will it was a time to get high and listen to the voices in the music of the time Marvin Gay and Janis Joplin, Peter Paul and Mary, Motown and Beach Boys and we still proetst goverment issues but we do it in a civil manner.
