man I have TONS of favorite, and inspirational, and humerous from:
authors, scholars, coaches, teachers, drill instructors, too many to list all of 'em.

heres a couple I like:

"for children are innocent and love justice, while most of us are wicked and naturally prefer mercy" -G.K. Chesterton

"ALCOHOL...the "cause" and "solution" to all of lifes problems" -Homer simpson

"Government is an association of men who do violence to the rest of us" -Leo Tolstoy

"when you smoke the herb, it reveals you to yourself" -Robert Nesta

"you can fool some people sometimes, but you cant fool all the people all the time" -Robert Nesta

"Dont gain the world and lose your soul, wisdom is better than silver and gold" -Robert Nesta

"A patriot must always be willing to defend his country against his government" -Edward Abbey

"Society is like a stew...If you dont stir it up every once in a while then a layer of scum floats to the top" -Edward Abbey

"When a mans best friend is his dog, that dog has a problem" -Edward Abbey
(my poor dog....he's my best friend)

some humerous, some reflective, I guess inspirational to me

"Stay in your own movie." Ken Kesey

"Homer, Alaska; A Quaint Drinking Village With a Fishing Problem"

"Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters." -- Daniel Webster

Will you and your government teach eagles to fly and tigers to hunt? Of course not. No one is so arrogant with nature. But you and your government want to tell me what to buy and how to live, and I am more complex than any eagle or tiger. Give me only the same respect you pay the badger and the blue jay, and leave me alone." ~ Allen Thornton

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined... The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun.” - Patrick Henry

“When those who swear an oath to uphold the law, instead choose to violate the law, then there is no law!!”

I love your "tourist season" one, that cracks me up every damn time!
Lol, thanks Tark, that was actually a comment from my hubby in the midst of tourist season traffic last year, "Ya know, I've been thinking, if it's tourist season, why can't we shoot 'em?......."

That and he refers to tourists as "terrorists", too :biglaugh: "Fucking A, the damn terrorists are back already!"

Another one referring to Florida that cracks me up is "Welcome to Florida--The Plywood State!" back from the Charley/Frances hurricane season a few years ago. I saw that one on a bumper sticker on the back of someone's car :biglaugh:

I wise man once said " he who hesitates, masturbates" and that is the best quote. Means more than just sex. Means that if you wait for things then you'll end up alone with your dick in your hand

AHAHAHA, that is hilarious!!!!! Holy cow, I laughed out loud for that one, long and hard. Hahahaha.
I used to spend summers in our cabin near Rapid City, South Dakota, and I hated tourists. At the end of every summer, usually first or second week in August, there is a motorcycle rally held in a small town called Sturgis. Yeah, it is a pretty big deal. Sturgis aint bad, but if you have never been there during the off season, don't expect much. The Roadkill Cafe was the best thing there, and that is stretching it. :pointlaug But 600,000 bikers gotta come in somehow, and a lot ride in. It sucks walking around in the Black Hills and hearing a fleet of Harleys cruising through the canyons. All loud as shit of course. And they are flippin everywhere. It really sucks leaving Houston, Texas, for a vacation in the Black Hills and there are bikers everywhere. Oh well, you get used to them I guess.

Its in my signature- I try to follow it each day in the hope to better myself and my own.

Another that has served me well is, simply- Actions speak louder than words. Many would do well to remember this quote. People are judge by their action, not what they say.

Greats quotes people

War is not about who wins or looses it's about who's left.

As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there's a twilight where everything remains seemingly unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness.
-- Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas

Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar.

If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.
--Winston Churchill

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
-- George Bernard Shaw

It matters not who casts the votes, only who counts them.
--Joseph Stalin

I believe, if we take habitual drunkards as a class, their heads and their hearts will bear an advantageous comparison with those of any other class. There seems ever to have been a proneness in the brilliant and warm-blooded to fall into this vice.
-- Abraham Lincoln
