Personally I'd say that your first concern should always be with decent soil. A decent soil can provide upto six weeks feed and stand you in good stead. I let the soil do the feeding in veg and then supplement with canna terra flores at 10% the recommended dilution when neccessary.

note...it has taken me a few grows to conclude this.....trial and error....trial end error

Like you say lots of people have lots of opinions and they'll all say theres is the best....I say good luck in finding your solution.

I've always used Tiger Bloom and never saw a reason to switch.I've heard Pure Blend Pro is also good I use PBP for veg and fox farm for flower.

That IS funny! But, back in 1980, a circus was in town, so my grow buddy and I took a bushel basket with us and bummed some elephant do do. A bushel of softball size elephant turds. Sounds like Beavis and Butthead now, but we thought we were on to some really "advanced nutrients". We dug a hole, chopped up the turds, mixed in some dirt, active compost and a bag of Bone Meal we had. We only waited about a month and carried several 5 gallon buckets of it out to our patch and broadcast the concoction around our plants, being careful not to let it pile up anywhere. Those plants started growing like hell and continued to do so well into flowering. We had to prop them up they got so tall and heavy, which was a first for either of us. The strains were a Kush that he had (he was a former Hare Krishna with great weed connections for Indian weed) and my Hawaian x Oahacan cross. A truly memorable harvest of great weed in abundace. There were a lot of years after that I longed for a source of Elephant manure again. Probably any composted manure would have done the same thing, but we were sold on the Dumbo do do.

I think it's more about Genetics than Ferts, a plant can only take in so much nutrients, you can get a low yielding strain and pump it full of ferts and guess what.... it will still be low yielding. Try experimenting with different strains before spending a fortune on ferts you will be suprised at the results.

I've been running Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Bloom (soil version) and it is spectacular. If you want even more, get some Hydroplex and you'll see monster buds :joint:

From what I've been reading for years, I'm using crappy soil and crappy nutrients. For what it's worth, I get great buds. This time around is going to be the heaviest buds. This harvest is going to be huge for me. Add to this the new job and long hours. I won't have much time to smoke.

I use MG potting mix and Garden Soil. No amendments. For food I was using MG Bloom Booster. Now I've got Schultz Bloom. So far I am very pleased with the current condition of my plants and buds.

I recommend.

Needed to add that my soil is at least 18 months old and has been through the wringer 5-6 times.

Hey man,
Good growers with good genetics grow good weed. I'm no master but if you want peoples opinions based on their personal experience I use advanced nutrients. Different things work for different people but my yields, potency and everything else went way up with AN.
It's retardedly expensive but worth it in my opinion.
I've used age old, gh, foxfarm and some local stuff and AN is what I use now. It took me about 6 months to really get it right, but it changed things for me dramaticly. I'm not saying it's the best for everyone, (although it could be)I'm just sayin it's the best for me. I have some pics on my albums of some advanced results if your interested, check them out.
Peace.

Hey yall,a bunch of good info in this thread. Iv used floranova bloom-works good.
Flora series 3 part-works.
Botanicare-works great

Iv always used AN big bud with all my different experiments and I just today decided to go with all AN. Picked up grow/micro/bloom,nirvana,bud candy and overdrive got it all for under $140,for the 1quart size the botanicare was $30 more so I thought iv read enough good things to give it a try.

If any of you AN users have any tips for a first timer pleas help a brother out?!?

I grow soil and hydro.

I exclusively use Botanicare's pure blend pro-grow and bloom formulas along with their liquid karma which I feel is essential for any stage of growth,(especially for rooting cuttings). I also use higrocorp's organa add, and during flowering organa guano, and pure flowers(and some unsulphured molasses). I have had great success w/these products and have tried other organic products with much less success(my friends have tried many other brands also but always end up going back to Botanicare products for their main nutrient source).Don't get me wrong, I am not bad mouthing any other name brands, but for some reason these products work very well for me. You will have great success if you just go with the three Botanicare formulas I first mentioned and unsulphered molasses, but most important of all is to ph balance any brand you ultimately choose to use.I also use fox farms ocean forest potting soil exclusively so my babies get great nutrients right from the start and that may also have something to do with my success.Experiment for yourself and you may find something else works better for you(but please stay with organic products)! Hope this helps a little bit.

Whatever works for you. I have had great results with all the quality brands of nutes, but the best in my opinion is General Hydro mixed with some Fox Farm organics. Took me one harvest to get it dialed in. Best of luck to you.

Turn off your CapsLock before posting again. People will be more inclined to actually read your post.

$12 will get you 1.5lbs of General Hydroponics MaxiBloom dry fertilizer. You can buy this in a lot of garden shops and nurseries. You can use that with both soil and hydro and you won't need anything else at all, just clean water.

That nutrient will cheaply feed your ladies very well and is all you'll need to add to your water for your first 4-10 crops, while you learn to grow. It has everything in it that your plants need to grow to be fantastic. If you buy anything else to mix with it... you're just throwing your money away and wasting your time.

Stay Safe! :D
