You're gonna love it. I have a bunch of HLG lights. I called asking about the old Rspec's and the older 5000k's and they sold me the boards for $15 a piece since they didn't sell them anymore. I love the 5000k's for veg. They keep the nodes nice and tight.I just picked up a HLG 650R Diablo. Bout to give it a test run.
Look on fb market place. Look for hlg brand. 650r Diablo is what I'm running in a 4x4 tent. It's equivalent to a de 1kI guess I am officially an old fart...havent even logged onto here in probably 10 years lol. Anyways, setting up a small tent to crush through a fair amount of seeds to find keeper phenos. Plan is to have a 4x4 tray with roughly 32 plants, flowered them at 6" or so, just to pick for color, trichome, aroma etc. Also to sequester males. So, old school SOG - what light should I. use? I wouldn't be bummed if it yielded well, but that's a secondary concern. I have been using DE HPS for ever.
You could also check out our vendors here at the site maybes get a bargain with discount,. Maybes worth looking into.. If you go led you need to completely forget about HPS environment. It wont work with leds as it is cold light, not warm like hps and bulbs. If youre in a real cold environment it may even be better to go for a couple of bulbs. But other than that id look into HLG if you have the $$$ and stateside.I guess I am officially an old fart...havent even logged onto here in probably 10 years lol. Really depends on your climate and what type of grow skills you got. Weve beaten all former HPS quality and yields with our led kits but its diy and not standard china growlights. But we generally have more heat than cold. And we have limited amos.Best light today ? Philips 400v HPS
Thank me later

Hids are not natural light, all bulbs are artifical lighting same as leds. The plant doesnt know where the light comes from, only what genes is triggered. This whole leds intrinsicly bad is rubbish and really without any proof, but theres a bunch of leds that really dont work that well, i agree. Problem is most led manufacturer only looks at electrical efficiency rather than plant biology; too much green and 660 added for efficiency when it really doesnt help the plant produce quality. I think youve never grown with leds like this:Best Light Quality = 400V HPS
Best Spread Quality = LEDs
Beaten HPS quality ? I doubt that very much sir, you can't beat natural light (sun, hids) with harmful EMF induced light (leds)
A HID isn't natural light. Nor can it do anything without some emf being applied.
They are both more like heat sources than light sources though. Thus the LED grower is relieved by the reduced heat, or forced to find some. With just a limited number of growers in the Goldilocks zone, where the porridge was just right.
