And man, in the bright sunlight, the plain clothes vice cop's badge sure was bright... had to squint my eyes.
George was the uniform cop who babysat me during the search of the house. A decent man in a fucked up world and a job he didn't want. A 'Nam vet with a red walrus mustache and early 1970s aviator tear-drop shades who'd only planned to be a cop long enough to get a law degree and license; goals he never reached, but a man with heart and soul..
