A little shoutout for @moose eater

Looks like it might be from the Yukon 800. Good times.

Friends of friends of my youngest son's were involved in that 'unloading' of a passenger, if that's who I think it was.

Haven't had good moose soup in a long while now. Couple years since I had a moose in the freezer. I miss it, too. Moose, bean, and cheese burritos with hot peppers, sweet onions and sweet peppers, moose burgers, moose hash, moose stroganoff, moose spaghetti, moose lasagna, Thai or Szechuan moose stir-fry, moose stew, moose pasties, moose meatloaf, and more.

Getting older and changing circles of friends/acquaintances results in changes of all sorts.

do you get burned out on moose, moose? i've read about (via Pat McManus) folks killing an elk & arguing over just who had eaten their share and who hadn't. :whistling: with a moose being a magnitude larger, it just made me curious... i can't imagine ever getting tired of game meat myself...:dunno:

Raised all 3 of our kids on it, among other wild meats and fish, but mostly moose. Never burned out on it. I crave it now. Wish I had some in the freezer. Probably too cantankerous to be offered any in the near future by anyone. Trespassing cow moose here should be nervous.

If that's the incident I think it is/was, I believe it was near the village of Rampart. Might be wrong.

Huntington is a well-known family name here.

how the hell do you fall out of a boat on smooth water like that? i came out of one once, AFTER we hit a rock bank at a 45 degree angle to keep from hitting a concrete boat dock flush. (throttle cable broke going WFO) only other way it was even close was while leaning out trying to piss while fishing. known two guys that drowned like that, actually. electric trolling motor going faster than they could swim is my theory. cold water/heavy clothing/boots don't help...

The boats in reference often carry 3 people. The boats are similar to very long, large-scale surf boards with outboard motors. Very long, fairly narrow, and not too much above or below waterline.

If I recall, they limit them to 50 hp, but due to design, etc., crank out some speed.

The person lying on the hull platform up front is looking for debris, sweepers, etc., and helping to keep the bow down.

About an 800-mile race if it's the Yukon 800.

The passenger that sits in front of the driver is likely apt to help lean into corners, and who knows what other duties. My guess is you could get info online via research.

If you look up the boats in reference online you also might be able to see the limited amount of structure resembling a cockpit, and the passenger might've been simply leaning over too far, and the driver accidentally or otherwise jerked the steering a bit at the wrong moment, or the passenger was leaning over for some other reason.

I laughed at the fellow yelling, "I got you on video!!"

Not exactly the moment you want to have go all over the internet, right?
