Staying aboard a couple different older wooden-hulled fishing boats in Wrangell Alaska's harbor on the transient float/dock in the summer of 1979, and later an old WWII LCM with a timber running the length of the hull, with foam padding for a floor that a friend and I slept on when we weren't working as hippie outcasts at the cannery, having quit our jobs for the US Forest Circus on that same Island..
South Seas music in a North Pacific port in what was akin to Peyton Place in rural Island Alaska country.
Lots of stories from that summer, broken heart(s), a shooting nearby, and transiency back to the Yukon Territory of Canada up the coast and over the pass for the closing celebration of the Hippie School with some amount of dried peyote buttons and a beautiful babe from Colorado.
Hiking over the Chilkoot Pass with my dog and 4 acquaintances, with a 1/4-lb. of Colombian in the dog food bag. Freeze-dried strawberry milkshakes at the summit of the Pass.
We were far more physically fit and adventurous back then..
