A local Fairbanks (primarily) 1st Nations Band; Marc Brown and the Blues Crew. They took a Native American Music Award (NAMMY) for the tune and album of the same title, 'Indian Rock and Roll', which is on/in this collection. They were a major bar and events band here a number of years ago, and played for legalization for us for a few shows as part of our numerous fund-raiser events, as well.
In a State that had Native Alaskans at about 17% of the population and 42% of the prison and jail populations at that time, and perhaps still, it made perfect sense. "Lets bring our people home."
They have a tune dedicated to the green..
Nice folks. I believe Marc's originally from Huslia (Village), and plays a mean guitar. The sax brings it home.
Sheet-rock finisher and painter Larry Cantil can be heard on many of their recordings, playing an awesome harmonica. Taj Majal did a local show once and spent the evening and a day or so at Larry's. Mutual interests in the blues and harmonicas.
Tight people.
*Other artists of greater renown appear in this collection, as well, to include J Geils and more..
