:yeahthats
it doesnt take very long to put up a good report and it makes you really think about how the herb turned out. its fun for me! :joint:

An unbiased grow thread/smoke report is the most valueable tool in my decision. Breeder would be the second most important. But I generally rely on more than one or two things when making my decision on what to buy.

i go by what close friends have to say about there grows of certain lines. i dont put alot of faith in reports from new growers, or growers that i dont know to be reliable/experienced growers.

i dont feel you get a honest report from most growers, due to no one wantin to admit there not that great a grower, or there hooked up with a breeder.

when visitin lots of sites, you notice who is part of that sites crew, no matter whats presented to um, they still blindly support the site and there seedmakers/breeders. thats just the way the weedworld evolved, every site has um and there not hard to spot. so whenever i read a report from um, i tend to take it with a grain of salt.

been years since ive purchased beans anyway, i like the private sector much more then the public commercial aspect of seed offerins. private breeders tend to do the work for the love of the weed, there not slingin seed as fast as they can for profit, they actually work there seedlines for years. its not about how fast they can crank out seed.

the "Velvet Underground", thats were its at:D

I usually go buy other reports at the forums and then i look at price.. For instances i would like to try out the new TH Seeds series like Purp and Burmese Kush but i would rather wait a few months until people have done finished their grows to get a nonbiased result..
I guess i also look at the breeder.. When seedbay finally releases SOL Blubonic, im going to get a pack because i have heard that Breeder Steve is very reliable..

First off i think about what type of herb i am looking for . Sativa, indica or a mix of the two. once i figure that out i ask memebers their opinions of certain strains. I look at smoke reports also to see what others think of the finished product. Price really dont make that much of a difference to me . I wont pay alot for beans but if the price is fair i will pay it but its not a deciding factor. after many grows i have found that certain breeders offer quality gear all the time so i do trust them and have ordered untested beans due to the quality of breeders previous gear i grew out. Like Rez for example. I grew out alot of his gear so when he came ou with Strawberry d or lisa maire i got them eventhough untested. I trust his gear after many grows so i know i wont be disappointed.

Pics dont matter to me. look at TV commercials. they make the item they are selling look quite attractive but once you buy it , yo uodnt get the same look as the pic on TV. Anyone can fake a good looking pic. Plus after decades of smoking i have learned that the look of the herb isnt a direct indication of the quality of th herb. I have had brown shitty weed with seeds and stems in it that would knock your socks off. So pics can be misleading.

Smoke reports and grower friends.

Stretch, flower time, nute issues, level of difficulty... all are criteria on whether this plant is appropriate for your grower situation will be found in grow reports. The OG faq was great because you could see different results from different set ups. CFL vs.
1k for instance.

I would love to grow SSH but I think that it may be too tall for the space, thanks to grow reports.

Breeders description: , with the seeds I have grown, all the reported flower times were 1 -2 weeks longer than described. I also stay away from "breeders" who only show macros of the plant. Everything looks great enlarged.

I am more impressed by grow reports that say something is great or compares it to another strain rather than a breeder getting online and blowing their horn.
The plants speak for themselves.

what also is not being discussed here is, How many growers don't do smoke reports because they are afraid it will make them look like a kiss ass to the breeder?

That they are worried about what their internet friends will think of them, will they give'em a hard time for being a satisfied customer?... I think it happens more often than not and the real losers are the customer's who don't get that information...

definatly, it does happen alot, sometimes when i'm following a thread to get an honest report that grower won't tell the truth because they kinda have an online bond with certain breeders or friends....instead i'll get a p.m. saying how they didn't like the strains and for what reason.

for me i'll tell the truth, nothing against the breeder or anything but i think of it like if i was the breeder i'd want to know the bad parts about my strain so i could maybe improve my line....u can't get close to perfection without some hard work and critisizm.

i feel that tested grow threads/ smoke reports/word of mouth/ friends are all the same catagory. if you did blend them options together the poll would be dominated by that option......peace

Ooooh Damn... I so wish I'd included PRICE!!
That's one that works both ways...
Some people Shop by price, never looking above what they can afford...
Some Never consider seeds below a certian price, assuming them inferior...
Excellent Point, in a very consise post redrider...(and others who mentioned price)

Oh yeah I'm a real bargain hunter now although I do feel you get what you pay for to a certain degree.

I can certainly see that side of it as well....
...but what is sad is that there are people afraid to just be honest...

... very good point!

Personal experience. Maybe Im just nostalgic :bat: ..
I also try to do my homework with regards to the breeder.
Nostalgia would have brought me to greenhouse if I didnt learn of Shanti..
So I guess both.. but then again.. The breeders personal knowledge and descriptions play heavy tho as well. Experience is %99 to me..
Its takin the time to see whos on the same page as you... and vice versa..

All the best,
RO

Biggest things to consider (for me anyway) Breeder, Parent Stock, Grow Reports, Photos. And I know I'm bad about taking photos, but it sure does help to know what you should expect.

1st- Smoke Reports
2nd- Price
3rd- History(ie how long has the strain be on the market) I make it a rule to not pay inflated prices for "so called" crazy genetics
