What happened to federation seeds?

Verite hasn't been around lately or he could answer this, but I'm running his Holy Grail 1.0 right now, which is "pre-2001 Federation Mikado" x C99.

If there wasn't some sorta shake-up at Federation, is there some difference between the Mikado they did after 2001?

Hey I know quite a few people are looking for the Hawaiian Sativa on this thread so I'll post this up. I don't want to hold anything over anyones head but I still have not found the ISS. I know some people posting here have the ISS or possibly the Sweet Skunk clone. If this really helps anyone out I would appreciate some kindess back, thanks.

Once again some obscure seed site in Canada has H.S. . Like Masterlow said...the trust issue is hard to get around. I've tried to order seeds twice from Canadian companies , the first time I got sent some fake ass bullshit that didn't even match the strain description , it was like they charged me for F1's but sent me F2's. The second time it took nearly a full month to receive my order and when I put them in to germ , not even ONE bean popped , complete crap. I felt like I got ripped both times.Dutchgrown has assured us they will be stocking Federation seeds wares soon, so I will probably just wait patiently.

The guys from next gen seeds say that Federation was lying about how they obtained the seeds and actually it came from a cut that they outcrossed then backcrossed then stabilized. Its hard to say but rahan and i both got a pheno that maybe in retrospect had more hybrid vigor and one that could've been the real hawaiian pheno. It doesn't mean the strain isn't good just that it's slightly different. Its a shame that seed co's are so competitive that we have to question stuff like this.

grown out a pre-2001 mikado. every seed popped from a 5 year old pack of seeds. none of them were finished by 45 days, no way. most were 55-65, very stable only distinguished by either a raspberry-smelling pheno or a more grapefruit pheno. grows extremely bushy with sativa-like leaf patterns, not to tall. kept a grapefruit pheno, finishes in around 70 days. yield was up to 2 o. per 3 gal pot. very cerebral, almost intense high...not exactly the breeder's description, but whatev.

as to mikado origins...word has it that it is a reworked grapefruit from breeder steve genes.

as for federation, according to emery, they got busted mid-2005 but seem to be getting up and running. emery mentions this during the award ceremony of t.b.2005, where mikado clinched first prize.

Just scored a bag of Cotton Candy and something called Blue Dynamite. The Cotton Candy buds are thick and frosty and pretty potent. The guy I got it from said the Blue Dynamite is from Federation, but I have never heard of it. It is very fruity smelling somewhat like Bluberry, but more citrus. Has anyone heard of this strain while we are on the topic of Federation Seeds? It has a long lasting comfortable high similar to a good Bubblegum.

BLUE DYNAMITE BREEDER'S DESCRIPTION:
Mostly Indica. Avalon (Blueberry x Afghani) x Dynamite. Sweet and fruity treat. Branchy plant with pink/purple hues. Good yield. Heavy resin Flowering time 6-7 wks. Harvest outdoor early Oct.

blue dynamite is a next generation seed co. strain NOT federation. but, as someone mentioned the n.g and federation boys used to work together, so the confusion may be warranted as federation may have the stock too, who knows. cotton candy is definately a federation strain though.

Is next Gen. still around and how does their wares compare to federation's?

i read somewhere that federation seeds was originally commissioned by emery, but i read a lot of things. i'm pretty sure nextgen broke off of federation seeds. notice that both names are based on gene rodenberry/star trek. both have a delicious repetoire of genetics. i think fed is somewhat underrated (possibly next gen too) and more people should definatley try out their gear. professor ziggy continued with federation after the divide. some people think he's a little out there, but he seems very knowledgeable about what he's doing and has an extremely benevolent attitude towards his plants, that i dig.

i've tried crown royal and mikado from fed, and both were stellar. still got to get my hands on next gen gear.

if you want next gen gear, i think the vancouver seed bank has some of their stuff as well as other unique strains and breeders. the vsb is run by dana larsen, ex-editor of cannabis culture i think, probably continued where emery direct left off. next gen is also available at green life seeds. i've never ordered from either, so cant vouch for anything...but damn they have some uniquely b.c. genetics there, representing the westcoast.
