It's funny if he had of asked if MG soil was okay to grow in im betting your response would have been kinder and a more moderate.

For what it's worth, the term to use in a shop is "tomatos". Unless you know the owner personally they will not sell to you if you mention growing pot.

I didn't even read any of these posts you talk about. I closed the thread because of all your foolish comments that had nothing to do with the topic. I don't take kindly to your comments but if you want to discuss this topic, do it. But if you just want it open to spew garbage I'll handle it accordingly. You didn't say what site you were a mod at, or if you even are, but if it's so much better than here than why are you here? We don't allow threads full of garbage. That's why we are here and those are history.....

Anyways, it's good practice to keep an eye on the cars in the parking lot, maybe even do a lap by before pulling in. There's been a surprising amount of people chilling in cars facing away from the store, whilst writing on a clipboard in my area lately. Hell, one time I saw a cop in his cruiser sitting across the street facing the store. This, in my opinion is your only real security risk when going to the store. And that's only in certain states.

If you walk into a store and they ask you what you're growing you're in the wrong store.

A friend walked into his preferred store in Cali and the guy behind the counter recognized him and shouted to a co-worker in the store something like "Hey...here's the guy that buys all those rockwool slabs"...D'oh! I crossed that one off my list.

I've been in stores where they puff in the backroom and even though in Cali never went back to em.

The peeps in the store I go to know me cause I've been going to em for years...and they know and respect the 'game' and are professional about it.

Or you could check your local nursery for the supplies you need. You might get lucky. Obviously it depends on where you live, but I feel a hell of a lot more comfortable at the nursery down the street than at the hydro store. Customer service is better too. See, I'm at my nursery all the time buying non MJ-related stuff- lawn seed, fruits/veggies, roses, etc...so when I pickup some Fox Farm nutes and a slab of rockwool cubes along with a schefflera and some pruning shears they don't bat an eye.

when asking if they had fans specifically around 100 cfm, the man pointed me to the wall and also asked what size room I needed to cool... I said a closet size but isn't that obvious hint for him to call his buddy who lives across the street and follow me home?

another example.. I always hear people on here mentioning conversations they had at their hydro store..?????? What are you telling them about what you're growing or what do you say?

If they ask you things like "well what are you looking to do with the soil so I can recommend you something" or something like that.. how do you react??

his asking what size room to cool is a viable question he wants to sell you the proper product so your happy n come back. as for his buddy liven down the street following ya home he wouldnt be in business very long i highly doubt this. but cops hangn around and taken plate#'s down yes i herd and read about this my advice is dont go directly home. or find a hydro shop in a stripmall type place where theres many other business to be lost in the shuffel. most police dont have money or man power to servailance on hydro shops, but some do and are this board.

the current hydro shop i use i talk nothing except how much is this or that, most hydro shops have big signs that say no growing pot talk.
now the last 1 i used duder younger guy had grow going himself so ifn only us where in the shop very quite talk about this or that.

grown Tomatos and no reaction on the face its not against the law to own hydro or growing equipment many vegans grow thier own veggies i know a few.

best thing to do is get educated here figure out what you want to do then walk in confident knowing what your there after. grab it buy it and go home if you need to talk to the employees. do some talking around the bush usen veggies to obtain your info your after if you really need to ask the hydro shop questions.

I don't subscribe to the notion that it's best to let them sift through several years of bickering to find answers to simple questions when they can post up a question and let someone respond if they choose. Its in between log out and new posts.. It really is there for a reason.. I'm going to agree with the "tomatoes" advice, but let's keep it real man. Everybody already can guess why you are there. Shit, I walked into a freaking KFC one time, not buzzed at all, fresh cut, clear eyes, and asked for ten large paper cups (love those for seedlings and couldn't find any at Walmart that day.) The first thing the chick across the counter asked me was if I was growing weed. I was dying laughing inside, made up a story and kept a straight face, but she saw through me instantly.

If I wasn't fooling some kid at a KFC, you aren't fooling anyone at a hydro shop.

The best learning is done when doing and not reading. Unfortunately when people make mistakes in this game when doing, even little ones, it can be VERY costly so ALWAYS best IMO to err on the conservative side which doesn't hurt you in any way.

The search sucks. Its overly eager to rank recent threads, and most threads just happen to mention the word, it needs to weight heaver keywords in the title. 99% of the time I search I find nothing and have to rever tto google. Also if youre on the homepage that button is broken. Cant everyone stop riding the man's dick for starting a thread

I had a lady at lowes look at my buckets and soils and start giving me pot growing tips like BURY HALF YOUR PLANT. i was just like uhh thats not what im growing shes like yes u are, I was like whatev ( bury half your plant? I wanted to call her out but couldnt blow my "cover" )
