What do you feed your dog?

I like purina green bag or I should say my dogs do. I give the short haired pointer 2 cups and my border collie mix 1 cup a day along with whatever we have for dinner. Never have a problem. I have done this for years and always get about 15 yrs out of my mutts . Never any health problems either so my opinion is if it works good don't mess with it. besides they love a plater of whatever we have including the salad and veggies . Even buy them a DQ doggie sunday when we stop for 1 . Don't do it often but hey they like it on a hot day also.

I have one indoor German Shepherd and five outdoor "security" pups.
The shepherd enjoys kibbles and bits and the other ones go through a fifty pound bag of walmart hi-protein dog food. The first ingredient is meat and it is twenty bucks a bag.
One of my dogs got bit by a rattlesnake today and looks all Rocky Dennis from mask.

I feed kibble, but its a good quality., high meat content, single meat source product with no artificial anything, and wheat/maize free and dairy free, made by an independant company. Its the big brand names that are crap. The rule for me is-if you can buy it at the supermarket and dont have to go to a pet food supplier-its crap.
Considered barf but never really bought the theory, as dogs have developed through thousands of years of being with humans, to basically eat our leavings. Its only in modern times with the shit we eat that that becomes a problem.
However I dont think raw feeding is bad, I just dont see that its that big of a deal, plus I havent got space for a big freezer just for the dog-well not if I want to grow anyway LOL.

I didn't realize they had 'doggie sundays'! How cute! :)

Back when I had my pet sitting bus., I would take a group of pups, my "clients", to the park or to one of the other client's home to play, (with the owner's approval, of course), at least a couple days a week; usually going to the 2 golden retriever's house, where they had a pool the pups could swim in and a giant fenced in yard, on "Frosty Paw Friday's" in particular, when they would each get a 'Frosty Paw' treat.
One of the pups, Taffy, had an 'internal calendar/clock'; she always knew when it was Friday, no matter where we were, she would wait for her Frosty Paw the entire play time, sitting beside me, waiting for her treat, rather than playing with the others the way she would any other day of the week.
:bigeye: Crazy pooches!

Wow, it's been a while since I checked this thread out, things are really bumping!

To whomever decided to make it a sticky, :thank you:.

I'm really glad so many folks are into the raw feeding. There are lots of great reasons to be concious about your pet's diet, ranging from individual health to the stability of local community/economy.

Happy 4th everyone! I'll try to be more active in this thread now that I know it's going again.

actually this thread is a "3 in 1" solution (something like wash and go) :D ..there were 3 threads about the same subject
and with the same title..So I thought it might be better to have these 3 in 1 and stick it..

:) They actually have a name for them: "Pup cup". It consists of vanilla soft serve with a Milkbone-type treat stuck on the top. My dog LOVES ice cream! Plus, they're free with any purchase, so I always get my dog one when I get a cone. :tiphat:

tonight my sweet Alice will be enjoying the rest of my ribeye steak to top off her Purina One kibble, I never finish a whole steak and so when one's cooking she knows life is good once again.......

^^^^^ HAHA!

Seriously though, ordered a bag of Blue Buffalo Wilderness Large Breed from the pet store, been feeding just the regular Wilderness along with the Life Protection Large Breed formula mixed together. Now that the Wilderness has a Large Breed variant, gonna give that a shot. Great food, made in the USA (no chinese poison for my dog!), and my dog absolutely LOVES it!

Can anyone recommend a red meat-based dog food? Innova Evo has worked great thus far but I'm looking for something new pot proctor and gamble buying that company. Gotta have red meat as my pup doesn't agree with chicken formulas and also looking for something with zero grain.

My dogs get alot of table scraps but they get two walks a day (unleashed) on private property, but then again they do eat rodents, lizards, and anything else they can catch. I dont really like that but thats what they do.

Fresh Raw, naturally raised (no hormones, antibiotics, GMO feed.. is best, but no matter what you settle on, both you and your dog's GI tract needs a healthy balance of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Most people and pets do not ingest sufficient probiotics, which are essential to maintaining GI balance. Meat is hard to break down, especially as your dog/pet ages. Enzymes in between meals help considerably to the overall health.
