As long as it drives well and it doesn't break down too much I'm happy.

A car is only a pile of metal and plastic that brings you from one place to another.

Unfortunately, don't buy anything but Japanese for that price if you want reliability, I had a Ford = Nightmare constantly..

Sound advice ? :bat: :bat: :bat:

if you are looking for the best deal then get the chevy prizm, its a toyota corolla that was rebadged, now it sells for thousands of dollars less than a corolla but its just as reliable.

Don't get a ford...really. Every ford I've seen has barley lasted til 60k...esecially focuses for some reason. Seen quite a few friends really regret spending money on them.

A honda with 80k miles is nothing considering they can go well over 200 if properly cared for. Just replace the timing belt when you get it. Get a honda if you don't need a super fast car...you won't regret it.

My 93 accord is about to go over 220k and is still on the factory clutch...and is also the clutch I learned how to drive a standard on.

If it was my 6k I'd go with a 240sx and get an sr20 swap or buy a super clean 87 supra that for sale around me...but neither of those would be considered reliable....but I don't mind if its fast.

Your looking at a car thats only two years old and it's already being sold at 6500, thats not a good sign. I'd suggest staying away from it, it looks nice and new right now but unless you plan on only driving it for a short time I'd look at something else.

I've seen Honda's, toyota's, etc.. go 400,000 thats one reason why people are telling you to go that route. Also the difference in parts in say...nissan vs. VW is alot. Go for a jap car, in the long run it will save head aches. Just make sure you keep up on oil changes and such.

Stay away from the Focus. Disposable car. Be lucky to get 100k. Honda or Toyota is what it sounds like you need

I bet you would be happy with a camry, check them out on autotrader in your area, there is bound to be several in your price range to choose from and they are great cars to spend hours in.

My dad had one a while ago and got T-boned by an oil delivery truck that blew through a stop, hit the passenger door where my little brother was sitting and he came away with a scratch. They are safe.

Yeah, totally agree on this one.

The wife had the Geo version and this thing would not die. Well 350,000 or so miles later it did, but it still got over 35 mpg up until it's last breath.

So my dad and i went to have a look at the focus and....Yea it had been wrecked. The guy keep telling me on the phone it was clean and never wrecked, what a load of bs! Ididnt even need car-fax for that one,it was a shady fix-up.So any way im fed up with this bargin hunting so im going tomarrow and dropping my $6k on a scion XB(down payment).i just dont know wether im gonna get an 08' or try for a 07'-06' with a few miles on it...

Even with your mind made up I still say get a Toyota... I get really good gas mileage on my Camry and even with over 100k miles on it, it's still more reliable (read has not had a serious problem yet) than my neighbors 05' Ford Recall.

Umm, he is getting a Toyota. It's just like how Ford owns both Lincoln and Mercury.

Toyota owns Lexus and Scion.

Good choice, btw. That thing should last forever (With proper maintenance  ).
