bringing home the rain

You're evil as the demons that haunt you
Forgetting what it was that they taught you
But now there's no one left to stop you
Or to catch you when you when you
When you when your

Blood-shot your eyes drop
And the skin's all wearing thin
There's no one here to tell you about the depth of the water
Or the trouble that you're in
You're dancin' with your demons baby
You forgot your former lie
And it was hard swimmin' once
And now you're daily divin' in

And I'm bringin' home the rain
(I'm bringin' home the rain)
There's no supper on the table
(No supper on the table)
And my feet are in the flame
I'm drying out again

IN MY BONES

Yes I made a lot of mistakes, yeah
Guess I've been in my own way
But I gotta do what it takes, now
Got me feelin' like I missed my time
Got me feelin' like I'm lost
I'll be facin' all my demonds now

I got my eyes on the road, love, oh
I'm gonna do right by you, love, yeah

'Cause I gotta feeling in my bones
In my bones, yeah baby
I gotta move like a rolling stone
Rolling stone, yeah baby
Ain't nobody gonna talk me down
Ain't nobody gonna hold me, now
I gotta feeling in my bones
In my bones, will never touch the ground
I feel it in my bones

I've been walkin' on a tightrope, yeah
I've been dancin' with your ghost
Can't nobody take me out my zone
I gotta walk until I get there, yeah
One step at a time
Tell my baby that I'm comin' home

I got my eyes on the road love, oh
I'm gonna do right by you, love, yeah

'Cause I gotta feeling in my bones
In my bones, yeah baby
I gotta move like a rolling stone
Rolling stone, yeah baby
Ain't nobody gonna talk me down
Ain't nobody gonna hold me, now
I gotta feeling in my bones
In my bones, will never touch the ground
Yeah, yeah in my bones, oh yeah

So I'm gon' take a leap of faith
Feel this moment, find my place
No I ain't here to walk alone
So we can take a leap of faith
Seal the moment, find a place
We ain't gotta walk alone

'Cause I gotta feeling in my bones
In my bones, yeah baby
I gotta move like a rolling stone
Rolling stone, yeah baby

I gotta feeling in my bones
In my bones, yeah baby
I gotta move like a rolling stone
Rolling stone, yeah baby
Ain't nobody gonna talk me down
Ain't nobody gonna hold me, now
I gotta feeling in my bones
In my bones, will never touch the ground
I feel it in my bones

Giving up lovin', easy to do
People so pitiful
They never come through
Honey, honey, honey I ain't that way

You want a little bit, once in a while
Come on and get a bit

You shouldn't take it so hard, yeah
You shouldn't take it
You shouldn't take it so hard, yeah

Take a look around you, tell me, what do you see?
People with little bits
Try, tryin' to smile
Most of what you've gotten is free, yeah

You shouldn't take it so hard, yeah
You shouldn't take it
You shouldn't take it so hard, yeah

Yank it up, baby
Or get yourself a new name
You want a little bit once in a while
Yeah, you got a taste for it

You shouldn't take it so hard, yeah
You shouldn't take it
You shouldn't take it so hard, yeah

I get up and nothin' gets me down
You got it tough, I've seen the toughest around
And I know, baby, just how you feel
You got to roll with the punches and get to what's real
Ah, can't you see me standin' here
I got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen
Ah, can't you see what I mean?
Ah, might as well jump (jump)
Might as well jump
Go ahead and jump (jump)
Go ahead and jump
Ow, oh, hey, you
Who said that?
Baby, how you been?
You say you don't know
You won't know until you begin
So can't ya see me standing here
I got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen
Ah, can't you see what I mean?
Ah, might as well jump (jump)
Go ahead and jump
Might as well jump (jump)
Go ahead and jump
Jump
Might as well jump (jump)
Go ahead and jump
Get it in, jump (jump)
Go ahead and jump
Jump
Jump

I met a woman long ago
Her hair the black that black can go
Are you a teacher of the heart?
Soft she answered "no"
I met a girl across the sea
Her hair the gold that gold can be
Are you a teacher of the heart?
"Yes, but not for thee"
I met a man who lost his mind
In some lost place I had to find
"Follow me" the wise man said,
But he walked behind
I walked into a hospital
Where none was sick and none was well
When at night the nurses left
I could not walk at all
Morning came and then came noon
Dinner time a scalpel blade
Lay beside my silver spoon
Some girls wander by mistake
Into the mess that scalpels make
Are you the teachers of my heart?
"We teach old hearts to break"
One morning I woke up alone
The hospital and the nurses gone
Have I carved enough my Lord?
"Child, you are a bone"
I ate and ate and ate
No I did not miss a plate, well
How much do these suppers cost?
"We'll take it out in hate"
I spent my hatred everyplace
On every work on every face
Someone gave me wishes
And I wished for an embrace
Several girls embraced me, then
I was embraced by men
Is my passion perfect?
"No, do it once again"
I was handsome I was strong
I knew the words of every song
Did my singing please you?
"No, the words you sang were wrong"
Who is it whom I address
Who takes down what I confess?
Are you the teachers of my heart?
"We teach old hearts to rest"
Oh teachers are my lessons done?
I cannot do another one
They laughed and laughed and said, Well child
"Are your lessons done?"
"Are your lessons done?"
"Are your lessons done?"

First came across this in 1973 and put it on my favorites list.

Marriage, three kids, divorce, and cancer.
Since then, I was moved into a hospice room with all the possessions I can fit.
A desktop with 4K monitor and a dozen movies against one wall.
Five Katanas hanging on another wall.
Two paintings hanging opposite on the remaining walls.
A dozen music cd's, one of which features Leonard Cohen.
And pockets full of knick knacks and sentimental items not taking much room.

Not a lot of stuff for 68 years of accumulating. I find it amazing what is held and what is let go. The priorities in my life have so radically changed in the last ten years it has become hard to pull up memories of what motivated me back then.

This song and smoking dope, 47 years spent surviving.
This song has remained a rock for all 47 of those years, just amazing considering all the changes I have been through.

Franks parody of framptons I'm in you......
My kinda guy

I have been in you, baby
And you have been in me
And we have be so intimately entwined
And it sure was fine

I have been in you, baby
And you have been in me
And so you see we have be so together
I thought that we would never
Return from Forever
(Return from Forever)
(Return from Forever)

You have been in me
And understandably
I have been in 'n' outta you (in 'n' outta you, in 'n' outta you)
And everywhere, you want me to (in 'n' outta yoooou)
Yes you know it's true;

And while (I was inside)
I might have been (undignified)
And that is maybe (why you cried)
I don't know, Maybe so
But what's the difference now?

I have been in you baby
You have been in me
Aw' little girl there ain't no time
To wash your stinky hand
Go head 'n' roll over
I'm goin' in you again
In you again
In you again
In you again...
I'm going in you again-ahhh
In you again, ah!
In you again-aah!
In you again, ah!
In you again-aah!
In you again, ah!

Okay, I´m not saying that these are my favourite one of ALL time, because frankly there are tons of great song lyrics out there.

But seeing as it´s election time... This is the song every politician should listen too every so often

There was a time when his album hardly left my CD player :rtfo:

PULP

"Common People"

She came from Greece, she had a thirst for knowledge
She studied sculpture at Saint Martin's College,
That's where I
Caught her eye.

She told me that her dad was loaded
I said, "In that case I'll have a rum and coca-cola."
She said, "Fine,"
And in thirty seconds time
She said,

"I want to live like common people.
I want to do whatever common people do,
I want to sleep with common people
I want to sleep with common people like you."

Well, what else could I do?
I said, "I'll see what I can do."

I took her to a supermarket
I don't know why but I had to start it
Somewhere,
So it started there.

I said, "Pretend you've got no money,"
She just laughed and said, "Oh, you're so funny."
I said, "Yeah?
Well, I can't see anyone else smiling in here."

Are you sure you want to live like common people?
You want to see whatever common people see
You want to sleep with common people,
You want to sleep with common people like me.

But she didn't understand,
She just smiled and held my hand.

Rent a flat above a shop,
Cut your hair and get a job.
Smoke some fags and play some pool,
Pretend you never went to school.

But still you'll never get it right
'Cause when you're laid in bed at night
Watching 'roaches climb the wall
If you called your dad he could stop it all.

You'll never live like common people
You'll never do whatever common people do
You'll never fail like common people
You'll never watch your life slide out of view,
And dance and drink and screw
Because there's nothing else to do.

Sing along with the common people,
Sing along and it might just get you through
Laugh along with the common people
Laugh along even though they're laughing at you
And the stupid things that you do.
Because you think that poor is cool.

I want to live with common people like you,
I want to live with common people like you [etc..]

Walla walla, bing bang
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang

Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang

I told the witch doctor you didn't love me true
I told the witch doctor you didn't love me nice
And then the witch doctor, he gave me this advice
He said that

Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang

Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang

"Charmless Man"

I met him in a crowded room
Where people go to drink away their gloom
He sat me down and so began
The story of a charmless man
Educated the expensive way
He knows his claret from a beaujolais
I think he'd like to have been Ronnie Kray
But then nature didn't make him that way

He thinks his educated airs those family shares
Will protect him, that you will respect him
He moves in circles of friends who just pretend that they like him
He does the same to them and when you put it all together
There's the model of a charmless man

He knows the swingers and their cavalry
Says he can get in anywhere for free
I began to go a little cross eyed
And from this charmless man I just had to hide

He talks at speed he gets nose bleeds
He doesn't see his days are tumbling down upon him
Yet he tries so hard to please he's just so keen for you to listen
But no-one is listening and when you put it all together
There's the model of a charmless man

He thinks his educated airs, those family shares
Will protect him, that you will respect him
Yet he tries so hard to please he's just so keen for you to listen
But no-one is listening and when you put it all together
There's the model of a charmless man

If you had not have fallen
Then I would not have found you
Angel flying too close to the ground
And I patched up your broken wing and hung around a while
Trying to keep your spirits up and your fever down
I knew someday that you would fly away
For love's the greatest healer to be found
So leave me if you need to, I will still remember
Angel flying too close to the ground
Fly on, fly on past, the speed of sound
I'd rather see you up than see you down
So leave me if you need to, I will still remember
Angel flying too close to the ground.
So leave me if you need to, I will still remember
Angel flying too close to the ground.

Saint Stephen with a rose
In and out of the garden he goes
Country garland in the wind and the rain
Wherever he goes, the people all complain

[Verse 2]
Stephen prospered in his time
Well he may and he may decline
Did it matter? Does it now?
Stephen would answer if he only knew how

[Verse 3]
Wishing well with a golden bell
Bucket hanging clear to Hell
Hell halfway 'twixt now and then
Stephen fill it up and lower down
And lower down again

[Bridge]
Ladyfinger*dipped in moonlight
Writing "What for?" across the morning sky
Sunlight splatters dawn with answers
Darkness shrugs and bids the day good-bye

Speeding arrow, sharp and narrow
What a lot of fleeting matters you have spurned
Several seasons with their treasons
Wrap the babe in scarlet covers, call it your own

[Verse 4]
Did he doubt or did he try?
Answers aplenty in the bye and bye
Talk about your plenty, talk about your ills
One man gathers what another man spills

[Instrumental Break]

[Verse 5]
Saint Stephen will remain
All he's lost he shall regain
Seashore washed by the suds and foam
Been here so long he's got to calling it home

[Outro]
Fortune comes a-crawling,Calliope woman
Spinning that curious sense of your own
Can you answer? Yes I can
But what would be the answer to the answer man?

One of my favorits Dead songs. Always make me reflect with a smile and a humble attitude. Easier said than done sometimes.

I lit up from Reno
I was trailed by twenty hounds
Didn't get to sleep that night
Till the morning came around
Set out running but I'll take my time
A friend of the Devil is a friend of mine
If I get home before daylight
I just might get some sleep tonight
I ran into the Devil, babe
He loaned me twenty bills
I spent that night in Utah
In a cave up in the hills
I set out running but I take my time
A friend of the devil is a friend of mine
If I get home before daylight
I just might get some sleep tonight
I ran down to the levee
But the Devil caught me there
He took my twenty dollar bill
And he vanished in the air
I set out running but I take my time
A friend of the Devil is a friend of mine
If I get home before daylight
I just might get some sleep tonight
Got two reasons why I cry
Away each lonely night
The first one's named sweet Anne Marie
And she's my heart's delight
Second one is prison, baby
The sheriff's on my trail
And if he catches up with me
I'll spend my life in jail
Got a wife in Chino, babe
And one in Cherokee
First one says she's got my child
But it don't look like me
I set out running but I take my time
A friend of the Devil is a friend of mine
If I get home before daylight
I just might get some sleep tonight
Got two reasons why I cry
Away each lonely night
The first one's named sweet Anne Marie
And she's my heart's delight
Second one is prison, baby

And if he catches up with me

Oh no... here we go now
Got a crazy feeling I don't understand
Gotta get away from here
Feelin' like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin' for the sun to appear
Momma's gonna worry
I been a bad bad boy
No use sayin' sorry
It's something that I enjoy
'Cause you can't see what my eyes see
(I can see it, I can see it)
And you can't be inside of me
Flying high again
I can see through mountains; watch me disappear
I can even touch the sky
Swallowing colours of the sound I hear
Am I just a crazy guy? You bet
Momma's gonna worry
I been a bad bad boy
No use sayin' sorry
It's something that I enjoy
If you could be inside my head
You'd see that black and white is read
Flying high again
