Making "big" money is a relative term. what is big money for us is a fortune to them. these people are just trying to survive. They couldn't make any money off drugs if here wasn't a market for it. politicians can't destroy the market, so they try to destroy the supply. Hasn't worked in the past, won't work in the future.

I don't agree. I don't think there is a demand for heroine / opium. The reason that the heroin /opium addiction in Iran / Russia is so high is because the cheaply sold opium / heroine first gets into Iran / Russia and in these countries it's dirt cheap, cheaper than buying bread / milk and most of the addicts are young children that don't know any better and have drug dealers sell them cheap drugs / get them hooked on drugs then they have to go steal and committ crimes to pay for their habits.

by destroying the crops there will still be heroine / opium but with less of it the prices would go up and availability would be restricted thus less people will get addicted to it

I don't think kids are demanding heroine/ opium but when you have drug dealers selling dirt cheap drugs that are highly addive then theres is a problem

yummy you are really clueless.
poppies=just about every pain killer known, and a ton of anti depressants and anti anxiety meds. Without poppies tons of people in the US and canada would be in pain.

Not even touching your completely biased america bashing.

Cool breezes over Strawberry(Diesel) Fields...

Damn - wanna bet how many soldiers are gettin' their buzz on with that stuff?

It was reported that the troops were having trouble burning these fields (when they were still trying). The dope was sooo dank that it wouldn't light and stay lit. Been there - done that...

Just like that 'Nam grass that Strawberry was smokin' in "Up In Smoke"...

"Wanna get high? Wanna get high?"

that's what I said. You don't want to be high and get your crew killed. Don't care if the soldiers are getting high on their spare time but when you are in a war you're suppose to be on duty and ready to fight at all times.

wouldn't want the fire department and police department stoned out of their mined during an emergency.
I very much doubt they touched the stuff, because the US military is notorious for surprise, and thorough drug testing. If anyone was caught, the penalties were severe. I know this because I used to be a Marine years back, and I didn't dare take that kind of risk then.

By the way folks, I wasn't intending this thread to be a political debate. Just wanted to show a moment of humor in a crazy world.

funny you say that my buddy was in the marines and tested positive for shrooms and got an honorable discharge. Needless to say he was happy as shit about it. Guess it depends on your track record or something.

Was this relatively recent? If so, then I guess they lightened things up a bit, or there were mitigating circumstances involved. The time I was in was quite different.

Afghanistan has a huge potential in term of crop production. Believe it or not there are not only rocks over there. There are rocky mountains for sure, but there are also fertile valleys in which a multitude of different crops can be grown. Hey, some of the best weed comes from the region, doesn't it?

I recently learned that an annual poppy harvest in Afghanistan pays 20 times as much as the average "legal" crop. No wonder why peasants keep growing poppies, you have to put yourself in their place, these people have a family to feed!

When you face war and its consequences just about everyday, I can understand how your family is your main if not only priority.

Peace

nice clip

I hope those soldiers *pay for some of that kindness and enjoy it; they certainly deserve to. I'm sure it's cheap there.

Also, I hope a few bring some rare afghan genetics back with them. That's how the haze-era started, from what I've read.
