Non profit or not, when you're managing any enterprise and you grow it beyond 5-10 employees, typically you have fixed costs (rent, salaries, insurance,etc.) that don't change no matter what your income is so it becomes an exercise in managing cash flow.
If you're an enterprise the size of Harbourside and you're down $150K to last year, that's not a good thing. Ever.
Still, it seems that the producers are scripting as much drama as they can and this would be one of the easiest scenarios to fake. For Harbourside's sake I hope that this is all just manufactured BS.

my honest, unbiased takes on episode 3:
1-i can't stand that these guys get high on their own supply. that is one of the ten commandments of business... these guys getting high on the job, is as bad as a bartender getting drunk on the job... NOT GOOD...."image is everything"
2-that 26 year old kid who is their lead buyer and all over stevey d's balls is such a sissy boy... seeing him verbally speak of stevey d while whimpering made me LOL for real... woke both my dogs up and put them on high alert when i released my burst of laughter after seeing this... lol then he goes and steals a lb of donated weed..
4- i have realized that if and when dispensaries become legal to create and operate across the country, there will be MUCH MORE sophisticated, educated, and intelligent business owners stepping up and running them..(you know, the guys who are smart enough to not want to live behind bars and eat shit food and fear asshole rapings
).. the sad thing is that the dummies that are painting the picture NOW and are supposed to be the ones who are going to sway the opinions of the public by having a good image, are doing a piss poor job.... image IS everything... the guy with the dress?!?!? come on!!! he is one example.......

final word: unfortunately, i have come to the conclusion that i really think that these guys are a group of bozo's. i do agree with most everybody here in this thread that has said this. It is a damn shame, and sad that these guys fail to understand the concept of "image".... i still give them credit for trying to pave the way for the weed business, and trying to get it accepted nationwide..... but truthfully, these guys are one strike away from striking out, and ultimately the only thing these guys are doing is helping give UPS, USPS, and FedEx more business, as well as putting more money in the pockets of well connected mid level dealers across the nation (because they are now getting quality cali grown bud shipped to them at a fraction of the cost of what they pay in their hoods)..... after watching this 3rd episode, I am convinced that the outcome of california's weed scene is that dispensaries will be eliminated and the shipping companies will be the ones who deliver the weed to the "patients"..... this is no good for the closet grower who fetches top dollar now..... even in these early stages of the closing of dispensaries, I have seen a huge influx of vac pack'd shit outta cali in my area and areas around me.... will the DEA set up shop around the shipping hubs out of cali? have dogs sniff out every package? I can see it now, "weed wars 2: introducing the DEA"

The Third episode was another embarrassment for harborside.
I'm pretty sure that the "lead-sales" douche (crying baby) stole many times before that. When he was finally caught by a coworker he had puppy dog eyes- like he took a shit on the carpet and now he’s going to get his face rubbed in it. I'm sure he was caught at a crime that he was committing for weeks or months. He probably got started by taking grower (supplier) bribes and worked his way to forging sales. Now, imagine if (a few) or (many) employees did the same thing.
Maybe that's why harborside is down 150k each month? not all of it, but some of it?
Harborside is a very large volume supplier. I'm sure that the crying hippy has done this before and maybe a few times. Without cameras, and with stoned accountants, it would be easy to steal from these idiots. After all, the CFO had to look thru a storage locker to find their accounting data to give to the IRS in the 2nd episode... What Turds! Today, we have thing's called computers. Harborside makes 21 million each year and they don’t spend money on a rudimentary electronic data system. and I don't mean quick books. Wtf?
No wonder they are in trouble with the government?
Also, in the 2nd episode the top executives from harborside show up to a federal hearing to settle their tax dispute, and one of the guys shows up wearing a dress.
No wonder why they NOW owe a $1 million dollar tax bill due at the end of the month.

I think the whole cast is fucked up!
Smoking and eating edibles on "the job" is totally messed up, especially when it's your BOSS, and they actually show it on TV. If my boss came into work ripped I would lose confidence and respect for my employer and probably look for another job. Totally unprofessional!
Also, it actually shows them pilfering their own goody and weed stash (vault), taking whatever they wanted too in front of millions of viewers. Is that herb being accounted for? Probably not!

They need to hire an assistant general manager with a proven track record in the retail industry, and not just one of their head friends who thinks it would be cool to work at a dispensary. One solid non weed background manager could do wonders for that place.
Uniforms for everyone, harborside polos with kakies would be just fine I think.
