Weed pilgrimage to SE Asia.

I always tell people who are thinking of travelling to ASIA, go to Nepal . I live here part time and know that it's one of the friendliest cannabis countries, CANNABIS is from NEpal, also you should trek around Annapurna, you will see old old, plots of cannabis, huge plants.. nothing like trekking thru the Himalaya and smoking NEpalese hash. I have been everywhere and Nepal is waaay cooler than most of the places. A day called shivaratri , a festival, everyone can partake in cannabis. It's legal on this day! I have a house outside Kathmandu, i have done my stints in guesthouses, and each and every guest house is cannabis friendly as well. But so glad I have a house and nepali wife, i usually find incredible hash. nepal IMO , is the only way.

what's it like to live there tintala? have you made close friends there (obviously a wife is a pretty close friend!)? i would love to live in nepal for a bit (couple of years or more) but fear isolation.

thanks limey, much appreciated. Have been lurking here for a long time and in most boards and have heard and seen people go to these exotic asian countries and smoke amazing weed, and buy lots of seeds to ship home, and then I find this board, by random, and realize that these very same countries have super harsh laws. Just so surprising and opposite of what I thought.

SO would it be hard to go there not knowing anyone and find pot and not getting caught? guess that is a weird question, but I wonder is it the same as it is here in both canada and the united state. Meaning, I have managed to find weed in every city I go to in both countries with little trying, and have never been (except when I bought weed of this homeless man in NYC) worried. Is there a difference from here to there? Or is it the same deal; get the feel of the place and don't buy in the touristy hot spots, as well ask locals?

So Nepal is a highly recommend spot (never thought of it but will start looking into it), and I have heard some good things about Cambodia (?). Sorry this question might get off topic, but where else in the world is some good cannabis to be had with little worry?

reason I ask is I want to go travel or work as a teacher abroad and Asia is really peeking my interests, but I would like to go to a different place and get to experience completely different weed.

No worries, mate

No, it's not at all hard to find pot without knowing anyone in any of the countries I mentioned - that's pretty much the situation I have usually been in.

What makes things potentially different from your previous traveling experiences is that there is a very well defined "beaten path" travelers circuit in most countries asia, with a subset circuit for pot smoking freaks. So you will be aware that there is a "golden triangle" of tourist spots around delhi i.e. Agra for the Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Jodhpur etc etc (incidentally, none of these places are any good for scoring weed or hash and Agra is - or was - positively scary on that front IMO). So, there is - or was - also a freaks' circuit in Rajasthan encompassing Jaisalmer-Udaipur-Pushkar-Bundi. There are also freaks' beaches in Goa (nowadays, Gokarna, and possibly more obscure places still) and definite hippy-hang-outs in the India himalaya (Vashisht - near manali ; the parvati valley ; etc) So, in any of these hippy-hang-out places, you are very likely:
1. to be offered something to smoke by street pushers (mildly risky on the police front)
2. to meet other like minded stoners smoking on the roof of your hotel (many roof tops having a roof top cafe or restaurant)
3. simply bump into such people while out and about.

People are almost always friendlier, more helpful, less shy when they are on the road. I know I am.

So, sometimes the tourist hot spot thing can work in your favour. Sometimes - like goa - it's mixed blessing (see what I wrote above about goa).

Nepal is most definitely recommended. It's fabulous. If you haven't done any dope tourism, it would be my #1 recommendation unless you otherwise happen to be in Spain, in which case, well, morocco is a $25 ferry ride away and, though the quality stuff is harder to find, it's safe and easy.

Cambodia - personally, my experiences were mixed but I was only in Siem Reap and I understand dope is better and easier to find in PP. I actually found it hard to score in Siem Reap but happy to accept that I was unlucky and didn't try as hard as I might have done. Found Laos better for dope and a nicer place anyway but that's just my personal opinion, not gospel.

Where else in the world? Well, Spain is very liberal and there's alot of dope going on but it does help to speak good spanish and/or know some people

There's so much dope in the UK it's silly and some of it (SOME - a lot is shit) is quality gear but like many places it's a "who you know" scene. The good thing about the UK is that there is dope from everywhere, of all kinds, available. The bad side is that it's often rubbish and expensive. There we are.

If you haven't been to the netherlands, book your ticket tomorrow. I am not being flippant - the tide is turning against dope smoking there and it may not be a tokers' paradise for ever. But it is amazing fun and they have practically the best smokes in the world available, in most towns, over the counter. Couldn't be easier. Though it could be cheaper!

California I found to be great. very fine weed anyway.

I know nothing about sub-saharan africa but from what I hear, it's wall-to-wall weed.

S. + central America. I likewise know nothing.

If you are looking for a place to teach and that's good for dope: Nepal. No question. Lot's of opportunities for doing voluntary work. very low cost of living (really, it will make you laugh it's so cheap). world's finest hash and very good weed to boot - a smoker's paradise.

:woohoo:
