If I had $1 for every time a politician or bureaucrat, (whether R -OR- D, it matters not), ran on promises and sound-bytes they had ZERO intention of actually making happen, (and knew it damned well when they said it), but said it specifically because their polling told them it's a winning selling point, I could afford to may someone else to have my cancer for me, and still have enough money left over to live very well. VERY well.
But the partisans on BOTH side s of the aisle continue on, eyes wide, faces aglow, rejoicing that, "Yeah, well MY party/guy says (THIS)!!!!"
And no matter how many times they've been lie3d to, and no matter how many times their guy or party has lied through their teeth with every manipulative word, they will vote for them again and again, claim it was someone else's fault the (XYZ) didn't happen.
We've seen all that bullshit here repeatedly, over and over, and the same folks involved still believe they have a choice.
4 primary sources of lobbyists run this Nation, if not much of the world, and it is those groups whose needs come well before yours or mine.
DoD/Pentagon (the relatively seldom audited thieves who sell contracts for votes, and amp up billing on .69 cent bolts for military aircraft to $165), Wall St./The BIG Banks (and their often criminal buddies), the insurance industry, and the pharmaceutical companies.
You can bet your ass that if we were talking about subsidies for THOSE persons/corporations, our supposed representatives would've been quite willing to tag on 4 more zeros and a decimal point at the end for each of those down-trodden employers of powerful lobbies.
The diminishing returns is how we come to choose between a shit sandwich and diarrhea over noodles, and feel like we had some sort of outstanding options.
We did not. We do not. And we will not. Not until after the gullible partisan public comes to grips with the reality of their own proverbial Stockholm Syndrome as US voters are concerned.
Years ago, when I was less resentful of spinning my wheels as an activist, I proposed that we make political [promises binding as verbal contracts. If someone ran on a platform and they were elected as a result of that platform, if it could be proven that they either subverted their own promises, or never attempted to make good on them, they're booted form office, charged with the civil offense of violating a contract with the People, charged with felony fraud, and made to repay ALL those donations made by persons who can show the threshold of evidence outlined briefly above.
Either make them bleed money, or make them literally bleed, but at the moment they have ZERO reason to become better humans, let alone representatives, and until we give these egotists and sociopaths some serious motivation to get righteous, we will repeat this horrid political ping-pong game, over, and over, and over. Just as we've already tolerated WAY TOO LONG.

Good thing he’s still in the senate.Sanders to hold up defense bill for $2K stimulus checks

"Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., is holding up a $740 billion military spending bill in a bid to force the Senate to vote on a proposal to send $2,000 stimulus checks to most Americans. Sanders’ procedural gambit is a delay tactic and cannot stop the bipartisan military bill from becoming law. But it can keep the Senate in session through the holiday week and puts political pressure on Senate Republicans and their majority leader, Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., to eventually take up the question of higher Covid-relief payments."
yes bernie now do the same thing with Medicare4All and force the vote, and/or withhold the progressive vote on Pelosi for speaker.
Bernie reminds us that one does not have to sell out their constituents.Good thing he’s still in the senate.

Combined with the vaccine, people should be bulletproof until the virus has nowhere to go.
I would go with a Kevlar +ballistic plate vest if ur looking for bulletproof.
Just read they don’t think the vaccine will work vs. the newer mutations.
Who coulda seen that coming... this is life now I guess permanent lockdowns with mandatory hijab
