I believe this is similar to why Trump the lost the older voters. These people have saved up their entire lives to retire. Many planned on going to various countries around the world for a once in a lifetime vacation only to have all that put on hold. They watched a president who didn't really care about covid as people in their age group died.
Trump tried to down play covid every chance he had. The older people who voted for Biden wanted nothing more then the hold covid put on their remaining few years to effect them as little as possible. They saw Biden as a better chance to resume their lives.

Back during the few months after the 89 quake in the SF Bay Area, it was really interesting how the collapse of just 1 bridge and 1 highway section turned the daily commute for maybe 1/2 the commuters, into an extra hour of Hell.

People are already pushing, trying to balance, one example being the book "EA wife" - about the families of game programmers at Electronic Arts.

Anyway, the marketing guy at the place I was working told me about an accident that happened on the 92 bridge.

A piece of Re-bar about 4 feet long fell off a truck, and ended up coming up through the floor board, below the passenger seat, of a woman driver. As Terrible as it sounds.

Stuff like that happens all the time - it just happens more often when people are 'pushed', past their normal limits.

And they fixed the bridge, and people's commute was back to normal a year later.


It's hard to watch what's going on without feeling that, this is what the Collapse process looks like.
