So ya anyway, the country with no mask mandates and no lockdowns is doing better in regards to the virus and economy than the USA with all of our govt orders and economic hardships...

USA currently at 623 dead from covid per million population

Sweden’s numbers aren’t that much better than ours. They have far fewer points of entry. New York, Florida, California drove our figures up. Points of entry. Sweden has Stockholm.
I went to the desert yesterday, palm desert area, everyone wore a mask, all the stores and restaurants had mask requirements except when you were eating outside. I was hoping for my fish tacos...

They have mask requirements here, at least in the store, but those who chose to ignore them are allowed to. Most folks wear them.

But they also have far less economic devastation from closing down everything except grocery stores.
Where I live 30% of renters are being evicted, unemployment is rampant, they’re saying half of small business will never re open. Multiple longtime medium/large size bizness and farms closing.
If we could’ve done without all that damage and had the same amount of deaths I think that’s worth looking at..?
Especially In regards to policy going forward...
There is a real life cost to buisness closing and people being homeless.

I’m just not seeing that here. I see business coming back into the stores. Buildings going up. Housing going strong. Everybody in the stores are wearing masks except for a few rebels. Giving each other distance. We could do a lot with just a few safety precautions. Cut down on flu deaths while we’re at it.
Certain business won’t survive. New ones will replace them unless we subsidize corporate interference.
But we do subsidize corporate interference in a big way (and it’s bi partisan for the most part)
So many bizness that were getting by on a thread are now gone.
Whatever foot hold they had in the market gone forever.
Next will be the succesful medium sized family run places that don’t have reserves to take years off
ALL replaced by amazon And Walmart and whatnot.
I’m Just saying if isolating the vulnerable and opening All buisness with suggested covid guidelines (ala Sweden) could provide a similiar covid death outcome then it bears smarter people than me taking a look and really considering it.
