Provide a birdbath, the birds are after moisture .

They don't even touch my tomatoes, but I keep h2o in my bird bath at all times, let it dry out and they will be eating them.

No bird flash tape or CDs,nothing.

I have birdbaths and 5 gallon buckets of water sitting everywhere in my yard. I also keep a buffet of seed for birds throughout the yard. The birds lack nothing. Except maybe tomatoes. Now I have supplied that for them. I had to keep the worm bin covered because I catch them in there eating my worms. At times, my yard is a wildlife refuge. There are plenty of grocery stores around me. If I am supposed to feed the animals than so be it.

had a toad planting its self in my green chillie pot. Took them off the ground to keep it out.

Lots of starts to start with. Will plant as many as I can and give the rest away.

I never saw birds eat our tomatoes. Probably we have enough water and food for them around.

That toad is funny sitting in his pot. Nice start Littleleaf :)

Because of my situation i often start indoors and put the plants outdoors later. You seem to work with small greenhouses outdoors?

Ph Freak I have a greenhouse, just took the plastic off today. I even have a RMH heater and a aquponic tank in it. All built from collected junk. The plastic was the only major expense.

Planted half of the maters today too.

Happy farming

Hey can someone tell me what this is on the leaves of my tomatoes?

If you said bird shit you would be correct.

We measure rain this year in feet around here. There ain't a thirsty bird around here for hundreds of miles. They are camped out on my maters. I could have taken dozens of pics of bird shit. Look at that one leaf. It looks like a damn terradactyl shit his dinner in my garden.

Lettuce, spinach, kale, Brussels sprouts and some chives planted yesterday. Cauliflower, cabbage, peas, carrots, and some potatoes planted today.

Still got a lot of seed and space to fill. I've never really had a veggie garden, so I'm just trying to grow it all and see how it goes.
I'll be putting in some starts Monday and Tuesday

Tomatoes, squash, egg plant, cucumbers, zucchini and some other stuff. I have some herbs too. Its been a lot of work, but I'm having fun and I'm looking forward to eating food that I've grown myself.

oti$ save the pots for next year or donate them to some one who can use them again. I reuse them for years.

I'm planting swiss chard, kale, cabbage and mesclun mix today.

Nice size garden, Oti$. How do you keep away the critters without a fence?

I'm building a fence today, actually. It's my first veggie garden and I'll be learning a lot of lessons the hard way, I'm sure. I'm putting a 4' fence up, but any suggestions on how to prevent this gs from digging under woukd be welcome and helpful..

Typo...I meant to type "things"...I'd like to prevent anything that would want to dig under the fence. This is the first time I've had a veggie garden, so I don't even know what may be trying to get in...I'll have to ask some other gardeners in the area what I have to watch out for...
