he could email it to someone and they could.

how long could a car battery power a laptop. i imagine it was most likely pulling about an amp, so how long can a car battery last with a one amp draw. i would think maybe a couple of days tops

listen guys i really apreciate the info on where to go. but that is one video i think i should keep to myslef. i hear where u are coming from. but i will sleep much better not showing it. it would piss the police off to no ends. and showing those pics might help them extend there long arms and reach me. ta! and it wasnt one car battery it was two. and the cam was set up on motion dection. it had been running for two weeks when i found it. and im sure it could have gone all summer.

Washington County Pair Charged With Growing Marijuana on SGL
Fri Oct 23, 2009 8:52am EDT
HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Game
Commission Southwest Regional Director R. Matthew Hough announced that charges
recently were filed against two individuals for growing marijuana on State
Game Land 117 in Smith Township, Washington County.

On June 7, Washington County Wildlife Conservation Officer (WCO) Daniel Sitler
and Deputy WCO James Lorch, while on routine patrol on SGL 117, encountered
two individuals who were acting suspicious during the brief conversation.

"After this odd exchange, we decided to try and determine what they had been
doing while visiting SGL 117," WCO Sitler said. "We back-tracked where they
had been and soon discovered 21 marijuana plants planted in thick vegetation
along a Game Commission food plot."

Following this discovery, the officers used video surveillance technology to
establish the connection between the suspected individuals and the marijuana
plants.

"The Game Commission has a long history and tradition of passing down our
investigative techniques from one generation of Wildlife Conservation Officers
to the next through our training structure," said Scott W. Tomlinson, Game
Commission Southwest Region Law Enforcement Supervisor. "In recent years,
we've been able to incorporate new technologies, such as the use of
newly-developed surveillance equipment, to our list of tools used to solve
these types of crimes.

"As similar sites have been known to be booby-trapped, this type of activity
poses a safety threat to both the public that use our State Game Lands, and
agency employees, such as Food and Cover Corps workers, who work there on a
daily basis developing food plots and wildlife habitat."

After consulting the Washington County District Attorney's office and the
Washington County Drug Task Force, WCO Sitler filed charges against Joshua M.
Morrissey, 35, of Cuddy, and Robert N. Hoff, 32, of Cannonsburg. Arrest
warrants were issued for these defendants charging them with felony counts
under Title 35 (The Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act,
Section 780-113 (a) 30) for the manufacture, delivery, possession with intent
to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, and (Section 780-113 (a) 16)
possession of a controlled substance.

Additionally, WCO Sitler filed charges under Title 34 (Game and Wildlife Code)
the unlawful planting of marijuana on State Game Lands.

All charges were filed before District Judge Gary Havelka, of Burgettstown.

Both Morrissey and Hoff were arraigned and lodged in the Washington County
prison pending the posting of bond. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled
for Oct. 29, on all charges.

I would imagine it would be cheaper putting up surveilance rather than 2 cops sitting out there, day after day waiting for the grower to return to take the crop at maturity ?

The thing about booby trapping....well they do have a point there ! some growers don't give a fuck about anything else than their own well being.

I think it's very plausable this happend...think about it you non believers.

Senor Bueno...i'm glad you had your wits about yah and that you are safe :)

look first of all im not a good story teller. my words are of truth. im here to learn and teach. not bring fairy tails. and for those of you looking to learn from my mistakes..... the plant count is not important on this tread. cam was on the ground facing up 2 - 3 feet
from edge of my garden 10' wire led back to a labtop
. who and how many were on the cam is my info. yes i found foot traffic thats what got me looking in the first place. yes it looked as though there were 3 more cameras set up.
at least thats what the labtop was telling me.

Sounds like you have more than one video camera.

Is this really a laptop and not the recorder?

Laptop seems very vulnerable to the elements also why video camera first time I heard of this? Trail cams are self contained no need for a video recorder or separate data storage? Seems like misplaced technology for the application but I am far from an expert and the second article you posted they use video surveillance too. Just glad for the info always like to see what the Guerrilla vs. LEO arms race looks like.

You must have one monster grow for them to place 3 video cams and a laptop to collect data?????:yoinks::yoinks:

With cops its the glory, not the number of plants. Time for a vacation. Not good to be locked up in strange country they might forget your there. Also very expensive, good luck lay low.:2cents::mad:

yep, seems weird they would leave behind a camera, laptop, and 2 batteries, when just a trail cam would do, and cost $200. i never ever though about the elements playing a factor on the pc, but thats damn fine point.

Hey asshole, it happened in the states, and dood is in Uruguay as a result. Trust me, it was more weed than you've ever seen, and it was in the largest metro area in the US. Take your bullshit comments back to the rock you crawled out from.

Big garden, not far enough in the wilderness, in an area that DEFFO has the $$$ to put up choppers and steup cams with laptops and 'car batteries' in the woods to watch what the choppers found.

Thank you for jumping to conclusions.

Thank you for the insight--

It could easily have been a rough condition/military style laptop, they are available and can be thrown in mud, dropped and even submerged without damage. Would I dont understand is why video? They could accomplish just as much with a wildlife cam or some sorts. As far as battery life, some simple netbook style of laptops can go as much as 12 hours on their own battery, hook thet up to a deep cycle boat battery and they will run for a loooong time.

Chaoscatalunya. you have a good point about having an excuse of why you are there. but how far can that excuse go when you are on video inspecting your leaves for bugs or checking your colas for mold. this is why im saying put up ur own cams. you can turn them off when you are attending your plot. and check them when you first come on site.

Mr-B

Panasonic makes laptops that withstand most weather elements.
No doubt they used a system similar to the new game cams that employ cellular service. These cams alert you whenever deer or other animals are lurking around your hunting area. The camera sends live feeds via the cellular network to your email.
I should know, I own two of them.

Senor, don't put the video on the web. They could charge you with endangering an undercover officer by showing his face. I would destroy the video along with any evidence of the systems.

LEO will know if the system is down, which means they probably won't make the same mistake twice.

Good luck and well wishes,

Mr-B
