Not if the cube is still wet. You want the minimum moisture possible and when you spray the cubes, do so lightly...just a mist around the bottom.

Must be hard telling if rockwool is wet, can you go by color? One reason I like coco is that it changes color drastically when wet to dry and in between. After awhile you know just by looking what its up to.

All rockwool does is get heavy or light really. With the dmall clone cubes you van give them a slight squeeze and see if any comes out but just by lifting them up it should give you an idea on moisture content. When new or dry they are very light, almost weightless. When daturated they have some weight and are a little darker in color.

Judging water by weight and feel is probably one of a growers most valuable Spidey sense abilities. I am developing it constantly.

Best not to mess with clones too much, as well. Set it and forget it the best you can. High humidity, wet but not sat/soggy, and time. Sometimes I lose hope on a few cuts and kind of forget about them. Then one day...boom! Roots!

I like 5 gallon smartpots for long term homes. Start small like a red solo cup and as the plant gets bigger, uppot. I have a gg4 in a red solo cup right now that i need to uppot just have to get to the soil spot n grab dirt

Yo sturgeon...we previous talked about the fact i might think about using some smart pots for my Mothers since what i have going White Widow Afghani grow wider than most you said...the are i have to work with is gonna be 30"l x 30"w 60h" with this litte cabinet area...Yes it will have a shelf for a humidity tray/dome and maybe some red solos...you think I should just do the 2 Mothers in Smart Pots instead of a DWC two buckets system like these right

was thinking about doing a two bucket system for 2 moms then making a T-fitting into this pvc pipe that goes to bucket reservoir...but im worried the would be too crammed together in the cabinet...the smart pots i could move around alot easier ya know.. and thats what you suggested previously...the smart pots still keep the plants growing relativly at the same rate as the flood & drain or DWC would?

You know my vote. Hand watered coco pots has to be the easiest way to grow, ever.

3L or 1gal plastic pots serve me very well. Smart pots are even better some say but I've never tried them, I don't see a need for improvement so far, the way I grow, but smart pots might be a good idea for long term root health in the case of keeping moms.

Honestly 3L plastic pots/straight coco, freaking rules. I'll let you know on the long term how my plants like it, plus I can up pot to 2 gal at anytime.

1gal coco pots, plants about 30”

And that last pic again is my 2x4 tent with a GSC on right which is currently about 3 times the size sitting outside in a coco pot waiting for its dirt.

got these what i think are 3gL pots ive never used...so i should just fill like half coco then insert rockwool cube plant base then cover upper top half the rest way with the loose coco?...and just hand water cause it drains out the bottom holes?...maybe set inside one of those plastic saucers?

Personally id go 5 gallon smart pots pots with handles. Thays what i use for my mothers and i make a new one once the old ones are like 6ft tall. You can drop the cube right into whatever medium you decide on. I myself use promix bx for my mothers and soil plants due to the amount of peat and its moisture retention. Just make sure with smart pots and stakes to put them in yhe middle otherwise they wont work well for support.

I think 3 gallons is way too big. Coco isn't that different then what your already doing with cubes. Its just loose like dirt and happens to be brown and stringy.

How big is the root mass? Find a container you can fit it into and still be able to fill under and around it some. Mostly under, you really shouldn't need a wider than normal container if you go coco, the plant will do what it wants. A small container let's you feed often and they grow quick. You'd be able to veg one out in a little pot 3 or 4 times and clone the heck out of all the while.

Oh and this is where grow styles collide. Sturgeons got a way down and its awesome. All I can speak for is from my own experience and what's easy and working for me currently. Plenty of ways to do what you need to do. Sturgeons been at it awhile. I've been learning as I go and hats off to you sturgeon for helping to pave our way.
