Stephen Colbert is probably the most acomplished satirist right now. Not a comedian in the strict sense of the term, but boy does he make me laugh.

I picked Louis ck, but I just watched some Bill Hicks stuff on youtube and I must say he's pretty damn funny.

way to put bill hicks on the bottom...

anyway he is by far hands down the best comedian there ever was.

no other comedian has had a bigger influence on my life and few people outside of personal relationships will have that big of influence on me.

George Carlin, #1 - The only problem is he recycles some of his material in subsequent big-event shows that you see on HBO (Watch some of the stuff he did in the 70s/early 80s)

Eddie Murphy's material for RAW and Delirious was gold, but everything he did afterwards has been terrible. He should probably get back to Stand-Up.

Now, who was that comedian from the 80's... really depressed sort of delivery, always talked really slow... umm.. damn..

And then you had a lot of 80s comedians who were not funny at all (in my opinion) and were just popular for being weird... like Bobcat Goldthwait of Police Academy fame, and Sam Kinison of... being fat and yelling a lot fame.
