Them mufflers are not cheap. I built one and with the time and energy I would have been better off buying one but my setup worked great. It was for a 6" Vortex and it sounded like a small jet engine taking off.
One thing I noticed, only recently, is Elicent seems to balance the blades with small weights. That'll help with longevity for sure. Next time I tear something apart I'll look at the Vortex blades. There seems to be a 'best' fan option for a particular setup and need...ya know...the right tool for the right job? I've never used a Hurricane but have some old Groteks going. A 6" Hurricane cranks out 630cfm . That's pretty nuts.
