some lovely genetics there, you have a great greenthumb brother.. I use those same air pots, and i love your pot raising technique i've always done that but i don't think ive ever seen a photo online of anyone doing it (great minds think alike
).. ive been able to get clones to take even at the end of flower but it takes them a good 2-3 weeks usually to sort their heads out and put out new veg growth.. mmmm purple peyote one of my favs..

Jammie: I learned my lesson. Even I grew them in 2 liter pots it was too wild since my height space is limited. So I decided to make something extreme... very extreme.
I decided to cuth them in half and tie the bigger one so they fit again in my room:
and I tried to save the tops of both plants. Lets see if they take off! that would be nice.

Ha good to know, 3 weeks is nothing if I can save a mom from these wonderful plants. the smell is incredible, red fruits, woody, balsam, ... cant wait to cuth them.

@ Rudiger: No they are not full spectrum. the Hans panels have mostly red and blues , and a tiny bit of white.

The Area51 might be more "full spectrum" as its a white light (3700K).

@ Dubi: The Zamal-OEX is my favorite strain to grow so far. Very branchy but not too much leaves, plenty of space for the buds to get the light. It is also very robust, when I topped one of the girls and was tying them, I almost snapped one of the 2 mains upper bigger branches. If you look back at some of the pics, you can see a bit of black tape in the middle of the plant. I thought it would die but it didnt, and it has big buds growing right now, as if nothing happened. I'll take pics of the "accident" at the end of the grow. Also, the plant is already going into scenescence mode, a lot of yellow leaves are appearing, even on the top bud sites. She have still 3 or 4 weeks to go so I decided to not fertilize her again and do a 4 week flush, hopefully I wont fuck up and the smoke should be very smooth.Actually Im not sure If she needed more fertz, I use CANNA BIO gear (Flores,Boost, PK13/14) and some other stuff like Sugar Crystal, Cal Mag and B Essentials from GHydro or something. I even "boosted" the quantity I was using, like 150% in the 2 last weeks but she still yellows... For a comparaison, The Violeta's just seem to keep this dark green color, and no sign of any yellow leaves even if Im already finishing the 2rd week of flush.
The smell of the ZOEX is very floral, like the perfume of a young and fresh girl. Something gentle, but consistent. I did a smoke test last weekend, I must be near the 8th week from pistils now. The smoke was pretty smooth, and I must say I found the effect of the 8 week ZOEX more potent than my 8 weeks Violeta. Started to hit after the third toke. A bit racy between 10-15-20 minutes but its lightly. Still half white pistils and half browns. Not much resin though, maybe Im doing something wrong?
Update on the Violeta's: one is almost ready, foxtailing, and tiny bits of purple colors are appearing on the top buds. I was expecting more color though. The smell is very nice, and deep, lots of red fruits, some pine. The colored pheno seem to yield pretty small but man, what a smell!!! Fucking incredible. So fruity, so sweet, nice resin, when I rub some flowers, iI have a kind of brown/purple oily film on my fingers. The colored smells a lot more balsam than the not colored one though. Very nice smoke too, at 6th week I think. As potent as the not colored Violeta's, maybe a bit more. But not sure, I have to make another smoke test

I'm glad to hear you are about to end the cycle and that you are already enjoying with the smoke of the new crosses
Zamal x Orient Express has indeed good structure to allow light penetration indoors. The aromas are gentle and floral as you described. Maybe she needed a bit more of Nitrogen in mid flowering to don't lose so many leaves, but is ok as long as the flowers are maturing nicely, it's always better to smoke a well flushed flower than over nitrogened. Some more african Zamal expressions are not so resinous like a more sativa/indica hashplant influenced pheno, but the potency and quality is there.
About the Violeta, she has overall a nice kind effect that is good to smoke any time of the day and in different situations, providing good vibes, without making lose your mind, well focused effect.
I also find the bigger yielding sativa/indica Violeta pheno more interesting and more powerful, there are also very colorful expressions in the sativa/indica pheno, the smaller pheno is low yielding but a very resinous pakistani hashplant type.
Good luck with the Purple Haze Malawis too!

I still have them in the fridge, unfortunatly i havent had the time to work with them yet.
be sure to tell me when you do, I had 12 from him via a friend of his and I gave them to a supposed friend of mine to start and he skipped town with them... I really wanted to grow them

Time for an update. Sorry for the late, and no pics right now. I'll try to upload them when Im back home. Unfortunately the camera gave up so I dont have pics for everything, will see what I can show.
3 Violetas have been harvested. Looked like I had 3 phenos: 2 not colored, one colored. Out of the 2 not colored, one was more indica (1), the other more sativa (2). The more indica had tiny dots of purple on the top buds at harvest time, the other one had the edges of the leaves getting colored but not the buds. The colored one (3) was fully dark purple.
Not colored indica (1) gave around 25-30g, same for the more sativa one (2), the colored (3) gave only 20g. Cut has been done 8.5 weeks from pistils.
My favorite was Violeta 2, the green sativa pheno. Nice high, not too strong but not too weak. As Dubi said, perfect daytime smoke. Not much else to say as I didnt cured the buds more than a week and have a hard time describing taste and flavors.
2 Zamal Orient Express has been harvested some weeks later. Both plants were the same pheno, one a bit faster than the other. Nice yield, the untouched plant gave 50g, the other one where I took samples through the grow gave 35g. Very nice smoke but I got used to it after 3-4 weeks of smoking it non stop. Stronger than Violeta, but I suspect i could have let it go longer. They have been cut down at 11 & 12 weeks from pistils.
Malawi x Purple Haze: this saturday it will be 12 weeks from pistils, the bigger plant looks more ready than the smaller one wich still has new pistils coming out. I already took some samples and oh man............ awesome smoke, haze overload. I was thinking I'd love to get some A5 or anything very hazy I've smoked in the past but now that I discovered Ace's gems, I dont need anything else. They are already quite powerful, even they need a couple weeks more. I checked the trics and there are already some amber, 5% or so. I find its quite fast, specially at 11.5 weeks from pistils (but already 21 weeks of 12/12). I cant fucking wait!!!!!
Zamal Hash: bad news, out of the 4 seeds I had germed, 2 developped flowers during the grow, so I decided to cut them down last week since they pollenised some other plants standing next to them. It doesnt seem the Malawi x Purple Haze have been much pollenised so its good news, but its still annoying... spotted a few seeds developping nonetheless. Not sure what happened there, there was a couple of times that I opened the tent during the dark period (but only 1 hour from the start of the sleep period) to get something in it so I guess it is what caused them to herm. Not sure why the other didnt though, but anyway, it had to happen somewhen in my grows. I'll be more careful next time. It looks like I had 2 phenos, one very sativesque, very branching and stretchy, and another one more "normal". Awesome smell of apples, and also coffee. With time the apple smell disappears and cofee one overwhelms...
Thats it for now. I'm also vegging 6 x Malawi since beginning of may, will update soon
