Hi all!
Never seen this one documented so I thought I'd do so.
Vietnam Nah Trang x Meao Thai -> Spicy lemony se asian aromas, very up clear and motivating high. 16 weeks flowering time. Leafier than first 2 hybrids.

These were mostly given away as freebies. Love to hear of anybody else's results.
My interest in them is to find a nice female or two and pollinate with Apollo 11 pollen, working to get the flowering time down and chunk up the bud a bit.
The lemony aromas and clear high should work well with Apollo.

These were a bit old, nine popped, but one didn't have enough juice and died early.

The front middle one was mutated and killed, leaving us with 7.

In the background here, are my 'Flying Tiger's'.
In '09 I grew out 'Golden Tiger', and lightly pollinated a few lower branches with Apollo pollen.
I have 18 of these, looking for males to B/C to Apollo, but I will flower out some selected girls and post the results here.

If interested, you can keep up with my Apollo breeding work here:

Thanks for having a look! :tiphat:

good luck! Highlighter:wave: that south asian cross sounds kinda wild to me... its hella work imo it would be fine, if you got plants with apollo buds, thai high influence, and reasonable flo time :D so again good luck! :D

im looking forward to those flying tigers too.. i have to say you do great job with apollo and honey white too if one assume your limited space and everything... keep it up!

Love seeing hippie seeds in the making.

I have been waiting for this thread since I heard of your plans with these. I have 10 of these myself in storage so cant wait to see what you come up with. Pebble grew the mother nah trang in his thread malawi and more.

Also I am still enjoying some a11xf13 from outdoors this year. Wish I would have kept some cuts from some of the ladies as it is nice smoke and did well outdoors in my area.

hi LittleBigMan

Great plan Highlighter

I like a lot the idea cos i think you can find very stimulant sativa plants in the mix. Both Apollo 11 and pure Vietnamese have that kind of clear, motvating, happy feel floating can not sleep kind of high ... i loved the old apollo, havent tried it in years .... the vietnamese thai was quite more or less like the vietnamese mum, fantastic sativa high but a bit short lived and mid potency, tropical looking plants maybe not very confortable for modern indoors needs or standards .... but with the apollo influence you can easily find short statured fast flowering plants, this kind of skunk traits are very dominant and will pop up frequently in this kind of poly hybrids. I had a zamal x jack flash hybrid years ago that grew in size and flowered like a short skunk but tasted and hit like a zamal/herer.

The malawi should add the vigour, wild strength and long lasting effect to the hybrid but be careful with the more malawi ones cos some will have that obelix feeling: heaven is going to fall over me hehehheh

Can't wait to see the vietnamese thai growing up. Thanks and best wishes!

I'm digging this, HL! The Apollo X's sound great, especially the Flying Tiger BC. Should find some lovely sat buzzes in all these different blends.

Thanks everyone!

Here's what the VNT's look like today @ 38 days.

My flowering tent will start seeing some space opening up in the next few wks. I hope to flower these out in 3/4 gallon airpots in coco. They will start out @ 12/12. I will take cuts as soon as I can, and probably end up just taking the cuts to full term if the seed plants get away from me. They look so innocent now! :)

The 18 'Flying Tigers' were transplanted into 3/4 gal. airpots last weekend and have really taken off! They were in beer cups for 54 days and just exploded w/ growth once they were root pruned, fed, and placed under a SunPulse 600w MH.
Here they are 5 days ago in their new home.

I'll be back tomorrow with updated pics of them.

Thanks Ur Humbl Nr8tor, looking forward to it getting a lot more interesting in the near future. :)

I want to apologize for not fully aknowledging those who've responded here. Growing demands the time of a "2nd job", and tho I relish the tasks, it eats up much time. Weekends I do a lot more, but I can relax and spend time w/ the plants, instead of the week-time feeding schedules that have me in & out.

Dubi, as always, your insights are most useful! :respect:

bloyd, thanks for posting Pebbles' pic. :good: His thread is so big, it's tough to find just what I want to reference there. Thx again!
(I have 24 F13 x A11 sprouts just up for a b/c to the A11-GPC. ;) )

Another busy day of catching up on my day off today.
A few days after transplanting last week, I could see a few Flying Tigers showing sex. I figured I'd wait til today to fully examine them. Six of the FT's are showing pistils. I will only run three FT girls full-term, my main interest is males.
The cuts I took of the FT's 10 days ago are rooting. I pulled 9 rooted cuts, 7 were from undecided plants, and were potted up and put in 12/12 to determine sex.
I will flower out 2 of the showing females. I numbered my plants from smallest to tallest. The #1, #2, & #3 plants were left untopped. The #1 plant is female. Here she is on the left w/ #2 & #3.

I pruned up the btms and took cuts of all three earlier.

Here's the two tallest, w/ long internodes. The one on the left (#14) is a female, and I want to see just how crazy a stretch it might have in 12/12, so she's in.

The 3rd girl will be chosen from the "undecided's".

Back next wk. with an update. :tiphat:

Quick update. :)

I have 3 Flying Tiger girls in the flower tent, #1 & #14 have been in a wk., #5 just 4 days.

FT #1

FT #5 & #14

I've killed off 8 plants and have the 7 "undecideds" (hoping all will be males) in flower the last 4 days.

Hoping to get the VNT's into airpots soon, they will go right into 12/12 when transplanted.

Til then...:tiphat:

The Flying Tiger are looking very 'Tiger' indeed, but we need to wait to see the flowering traits. It's going to be real interesting! ;)

How was the Golden Tiger used in the cross ??

Hola Dubi, :tiphat:

The Golden Tiger's were selectively pollinated on a few branches w/ Apollo pollen.
That was a painful grow, as I had PM as well as growing in a "off-gassing" tent.
Making those seeds was the most positive outcome of that grow.

I took a couple of pics of the VNT's today @ 54 days.

The plant on the front left has slightly wider leaves than the others, would this be a more Meao Thai influence?

I will probably top/take cuts this wk. and transplant to the airpots.

On the Flying Tiger front, 6 of the 7 "undecided's" are males.
The girl will go over to the tent. I like the fact that she didn't express til 12/12, so I may kill off the leggy #14.
The males are stretching like crazy. I'll get a shot of them next weekend, they should be starting to spew by then. :)

Finally got the Nah Trang's transplanted today. :D

They are now in their 1st day of flower! Here's what they looked like after being potted up in 0.8 gal. Air pots.

The last group of three were the tallest, and topped for cuts.
Cuts were taken from the others' lower side branches. ;)

I rearranged my tent and took everything out, so I took some pics of the Flying Tiger girls.

FT #1 @ 18 days

FT #5 @ 13 days

FT #12 @ 6 days

FT #14 @ 19 days

Last but not least, the Flying Tiger males are about to spew! :D

konopenko, I have them around a 600w hps hung vertically right now.
I've just upgraded my electrical so I'll be able to run more light.
Will be adding a 2nd 600w, running a Digilux MH in it.

GP73LPC, good to have you aboard! FYI I just purchased a Pro Grow 260 LED, should be here in a few days. Let there be LIGHT! :D

Ya, the FT's are stretching good, I expect the VNT's will be a real battle to contain. :)

Stay tuned...:tiphat:

very cool, the thread gets even better :D :tiphat:

will it just be supplemental lighting ?

Yeah, for the most part, but that's what I like about the LED's, they're so versatile! W/o heat issues, I can hang them in the cardboard wardrobes I like to isolate plants in.
I have my Kessil flowering out 5 plants in a wardrobe now. ;)

I would have gone w/ an HGL 84X-PRO, but couldn't justify the expense right now. I like the idea of them being modular and upgradeable.
The Pro Grow's seem tough to beat for the $, and I like the lighting switch feature and the fact that they have a few UV & IR chips in them, thinking these sativa's will dig that.
They also are sending both a 240v and 120v cord @ no additional cost.
I'll be showing off in your retail LED thread when it comes.
I also bought a Kill-a-watt meter, results when it comes. :smoke:

Just for you Dubi! :)

These are just approaching full-force spew. I gave them some rustling for the pic.

After I took this, I killed off 5 of them, keeping the one that caught my eye, #6. He's the one in the background, just left of the bamboo stake. He's more compact, a lot less leggy than the others.
Here he is with two Apollo's.

I will keep him around to finish off these girls, as well as do some selective pollinating with a couple of the FT girls for a few F2's.
