Vert PL-L 550Wflo/110Wveg NGB,Drbud cab

fantastic. What do you think about a PLL vert grow with 1 light bulb directly above each plant, with the plant topped/trained/pruned so that the lower branches grow up around the bulb to form the colas? I envision it somewhat like the attached picture
Do you have any other ventilation for the flower chamber other than the fans that are cooling off the bulbs?

I will be adding 1 more fan in the flower chamber to pull any built up heat at the top.

the picture above. That would be possible top the plant to encourage the branching and train it up

It's a good concept but if you think about it, you'll have a thinner ring of plant around the bulb. if you put the lights between the plants, each plant is getting basically the same amount of light but you can move the plants around for cleaning/maintenance.

Now, if you actually mounted the light TO the plant in your diagram, and set up a detachable plug for it, you might have something really cool going on.

I got time this weekend and finally got the new cab up and running. pics coming soon. So far I am pleased cab temps in flower run 1 degree above ambient. Temps in veg run 3 degrees above ambient. The cab is very quiet light humming sound. I made some cool diy reflectors in the veg area. I hate light leaks though its like playing wack-a-mole

full cab
veg and utility light trap bottom left
utility
extraction fan and carbon bed filter
diy reflectors
diy reflector made with hardware cloth left over from filter and generic reflectex
closed up
doors closed outside view

I have some tweaking to do on it. I want to get flex for the veg light wires and some caulking but overall Im happy. I might add a 24w pll under the shelf for my clones too.

Thanx Garuda. I used way to many brain cells on this one. I kinda built in my mind before I could physically build it. The DIY reflectors are a spur of the moment " I can make this shit work" type of deal though.

well they look pretty nice and they seem to do their job, so fantastic fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants DIY skills! thats kind of how i work, if i need equipment, i go to a hardware store and design it in the isle lol. except my cab, i "borrowed" that design haha

nice work, ill be watchin! (thinking about switching to vert pll in flower and horizontal and adjustable height in veg box.)

just read through your previous entertainment center thread.. it is enlightening. It is clean and professional.. i love it.

I'm curious, do you think vertical PLLs yield more than standard CFLs within the Dr.Bud framework?
I was under the impression that one factor of Dr. Bud's method was that the cfl's around the top of his cab forces the plants to stretch. maybe the plants stretch either way. Another factor related to the positioning of the CFLs at the top of the cab is that the CFLs light up the entire flowering area essentially creating a stadium.

i don't mean to intrude, just curious.

how much were you yielding per plant?

same here, its not as easy to be a grower in an apartment, try being a drummer too..... cant catch a break lol.

my cab ended up costing me around the 400 mark as well. i thought the whole time that i could make it cheaper than the model i did it after, and i did, but mine is w/o a feature or two and "unfinished"... as i was antsy to be done so i left the bottom uncovered and the outside unpainted... oh well. no one goes into my room anyway. if someone forced them selves in, they must already know something haha.:dunno:

off to watch the plants grow!:watchplant:

I was getting an average of 4 to 5 grams a plant. I have a very low yeilding strain that I am rotating out and flowering out the mother. I haven't weighed my harvests in a while. I haven't ran out yet. I even give it away to a buddy when ever he wants some. I will weigh the next one for ya we'll see how Im doin.......

The plants usually stretch no matter what. Probably because the 12 hours of darkness in flower. The only time I haven't had stretch goin on is when the plant did not have any root mass found in the post mortum autopsy.

Very slick, Tilt. It will be interesting to see how the new setup yields. I like it!

man you'll probably surpass 7 g's per plant in no time. I think i'm going to get casey jones or super silver haze for a similar sog style grow. What genetics are you looking into?

I have ch9 Jack dialed in height wise. Im starting bog's BMR and Dinafems critical + in rotation. I have no height data on them yet though.
Thanks for the encouragement. Im better at building stuff than growing it though.
