The picture in post 632 is a blower, not a centrifugal fan. The pictures in post 631 are of a centrifugal fan. -granger

Here is my plan.

36 X 36 X 63 tent.

6 inch scrubber
6 inch inline duct fan
400 watt 6 inch cooltube.

I was going to put the scrubber on the left of the cooltube with ducting. then the fan on the right said with ducting connecting to the cooltube, and connecting to the other side of the fan exhausting out of the tent. Air would be sucked in via the scrubber, and passed through the light, through the fan, then out the tent.

Would this work well? Should I step down the fan size? Should i arrange it differently?

Benificial duct sizing?

Benificial duct sizing?

If one uses a 6" centrifigul fan (264cfm) exhausted thru 8" ducting that is 4ft long with one 90*, is there an efficiency gain/benifit over running 6" duct for the same lenght run? I realize that the fan has a 6" exhaust opening but with 6">8" adaptor, would it exhaust more efficiently from less backpressure from the larger diameter pipe?

Hey guys just hoping for a little help. I read through the first 25 pages of this thread an learned a LOT.

Slowly upgrading to what will be a 4 x 10 ft flowering room. 2x 600w and 1x 400w aircooled lights. I really like the look of the SP td-150 for air cooling the lights. Maybe 1 bend in the system. With a double sized intake am I going to need to run more than one inline to keep these things cool? This seem like the most logical way to do it. Also I am more than willing to size up and get 8" ducting if need be, just trying to keep noise at a minimum.

Planning on exhausting the flower room and a 3x4 LED veg room with a 6 inch 440cfm valuline hooked up to a can filter from my previous grow (unless people rec an upsized fan/filter as well)

Thanks for any help!

a 150 alone is prob not enough to cool those lights, but with the 440 bring in fresh air it may be ok. All depends on the temp of the incoming air

Great thread. THanks to all that have shared their knowledge. So I have a 12 inch Max fax with cfm's of 1700. In my initial setup, I used reducers to get down to an 8 inch duct size. I found with this setup over time it rips the hell out of the my 8 inch flex duct even with long runs and it seriously reduces the cfm flow from the fan. So my question is for those of you using 12 inch fans, are you reducing or simply using 12 inch flex and if so what kind (and where do you purchase) of flex duct are you using that is compatible with the high cfms of this fan? Thanks in advance for your advice...

I would never reduce the fan like that. In fact, I always oversize it.. I don't run a 12" though, but have a few 8". For those I run 10" insulated. For yours I would run a 14" insulated and that can be found at Home Depot or Lowes.

The only exception is if sound pollution is a real issue, then I would get a larger fan, then dial it way down with a fan controller and use a smaller duct that would match the CFM.

If you are pulling through lights, then just run a Y duct connector and run two 8".

I know this isn't really an advice thread, I'm terrible with math, and my girlfriend is sleeping or I'd ask her.

Basically I'm working with a 4'x4'x6.5' tent, and I'd like to go with a dual-exhaust system, one for the hood (6" inlet/outlet), and one for the tent itself.

Does anyone have a recommendation? I'm not 100% decided whether I need a filter or not, I own my own home, and my location will be the basement. We don't have a lot of guests over, do you think 5-6 plants is going to stink the whole house up?

68 degree ambient in the winter, about... 72 ambient in the summer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :thank you:

Oh I forgot! It's a 600w HPS/MH setup. I'm also not worried about noise.

I have a active air 8 inch 720 CFM exhaust fan. Basically i'm wondering if i can get away with pulling through 2 raptor 8 hoods and a can 100 that has a 180 degree bend on it after the 2 raptor hoods in line with the 8 Inch on the opposite side..

So I'm working with a 10x10 room. I have a whole house fan that i have the option of keeping on. The vent is in the ground (carpet). The 10x10 room also has a small closet attatched too it 4x2.. I plan on mounting the 8 inch 720 CFM exhaust fan in the closet close too its exit point. From their I will drop a foot lower and make a 90 degree turn to horizontally flow between 2 raptor 8 hoods with 8 inch holes over my 4x8 table. Unfortunately at tha point i'm left with only 24 inches of room before I hit the window/blinds. I have a can 100 as my carbon scrubber and its about 40 inches tall and pretty heavy. In an ideal air flow situation I known a straight line with it mounted on the ceiling in line with teh raptors would be ideal, but i'm limited on space.. At the end of the 2 raptor hoods can I make a 180 degree turn with my ducting and have my can 100 mounted over my hoods about a foot on one side?

in my set up i'll have the 14k portable dual hose Cooling the room, will the intake from the AC alone be enough, or would you reccomend turning my whole house fan on? I have a crawl space and very limited attic access if that matters.

I live in 5800 not counting 3k worth of finished basement and when I grew, it stunk up the entire place. I don't smoke in the house, but I smoke a joint every 2 hours so it crept up on me and I didn't notice at first, but I had a few people come over and discreetly tell me it smelled like dank about week 3 of flowering. My wife said it was getting fragrant, but I pooh-poohed her. I wasn't even running super stinky stuff either, only 7 plants. 4 chronics, a th lambo, pineapple express, and a kandy kush. I spent a day and a half away from the house and when I came back I was like HOLY SHIT.....I'm going to jail.... It was bad. Really, really, really bad. The last 3 weeks was a battle; frying bacon and fish, heavy italian food with MAD garlic bread, not to mention running the grill and smoker just to try and mask the smell somewhat, not to mention buying all types of air fresheners. This was for a room INSIDE another storage room, in my basement. A room with 2 windows, that is not connected to the hvac in any way. The smell permeates. I'm about to drop 4-500 on filtration when I begin to load the flower room pipeline for the perpetual. Put it like this....If I DIDN'T own my house, I'd have taken all the plants outside somewhere and left them in the woods and hoped for the best. The smell was unreal, I couldn't imagine growing some sort of skunk or ak47 type stuff without serious filtration.

Really appreciate the advice Ben.

I got a nice big filter and a good fan to handle my tent. :thank you:
