Yes, huge overkill IMO, get one, run it for a while, if you still think you need another one, then buy it, but try just one first.

Thanks!

So you think I can just get the smallest carbon scrubber for my exhaust? Just want that extra security ya dig? I have some NYCD seeds I'm making right now and the mom is a stinky one.

Looks like I'm about to purchase one of these - I've read every post in this thread - sounds like most people think this is a good product. The strains that I've grown to date have not had too much odor - but I'm about to start growing some chems/diesel crosses - I've considered a carbon scrubber but I'm currently growing in a closet and cannot vent through a scrubber.

let us/me know how it works on the diesels, send me pm if u can do it. Id run the neutral disk for sure if your going that stink of a plant and mask that disk with another scent of vapourtek that u like a little further outside your grow. pm if u have questions.

I'll throw in my 2 cents- Ran an optimum 4000 for my last grow. It was a 400w CMH in a 3x2x6 ft cabinet. Ended up having one enormous white widow max female. The cabinet was in the bedroom of my apartment no more than 15 feet from the front door (and the door to the bedroom was usually open). Running the optimum at around 3 with the longer-lasting neutral cartridge and my friends couldn't smell it from the living room. They said they could smell it once you got to the bedroom but it was still stealthy considering it was a connected space and you couldn't smell it at the door.

little trick for you, get a linen scented disk, a vaportek one, just slide the disk against your door, but be careful the color left behind is yellish, it will make your door n hallway smell like laundry while the neutral in your room gets most of it, or u can just put it in a near by closet thats inbetween your bedroom n the front room, ive got one thats been giving of linen scent for over 3 months, just one disk.

I wonder if the 'linen' smell would smell like a cloths dryer with bounce sheets?

Anyone find a good deal on a 4000 in Canada?

Peaking my interest in these.. anyone ever use the closet model ) smaller) says it treats 10000 sq ft (?????) isnt that plenty for most of us?? Of course if they dont work as well as the 4000 then I regress.
Also, any taste changes in bud if you hang it high in your growroom?

And is it smart to use an exhaust fan intermittantly to "clear the room"
if you locate it directly in your grow chamber..??

thanks!!!:tiphat:

Order the replacement cartridge and buy the smallest personal desk fan you can and it'll do the same job. Also buy some mineral oil and when your cartridge goes dry just rewet it and get more out of it.

The actual unit is a plastic case with a computer fan that blows on the cartridge.

If you have cats and litter boxes and anyone ever asks about the clean hospital smell tell them that is to cover the litter boxes.

I have perused the thread some and I notice most of the people commenting are running small cabs...

I'm an outdoor grower and will be drying anywhere from 5-10lbs in a shed that is about 4,000 cubic feet and I was wondering of one v-tek 4,000 will be enough to cover that magnitude of smell?

Ideally I would like to run just one v-tek instead of buying a big ass carbon scrubber for twice as much and then buying a fan as well.

My scrubber option right now is 14"x39" Phresh Filter, which I do not have but would be the one I would want and it runs about $300, without the noisy ass fan. If a v-tek 4,000 can do the job I would much rather run with that.

Great thread. I was wondering whether anyone has come across or used a product called The Neutralizer? I've seen it promoted on several hydro supply sites as a new European product that's won several awards, and as a breakthrough in odor control.. It seems to work on the same principle as Vapotek using essential oils. It's priced at about $170 and supposedly covers 13,000 cu ft. Here's a product description.

The Neutralizer is compact, easy-to-use and cost effective! It does not mask unwanted odors, it completely eliminates them! The system consists of a plug-in sized electronic vaporizer which activates a cartridge containing a combination of essential oils. You just plug the vaporizer into a wall outlet and in less than an hour (depending on room size), your odors will be neutralized!

This system features:

· No absorption into the surrounding environment.

· Endurance – up to 6 week life with constant 24-hour use

· Great coverage – up to 13,000 cu ft (Neutralizer Odor Eliminator) or 700 cu ft (Neutralizer Odor Compact Kit)

· Hypoallergenic

· Compact Plug-in size – low energy consumption

· Neutralizes within an hour of activation

· Easy installation

· Replaceable cartridge

my last harvest i took around 10lbs,
the drying room was 16x30+ft
the can50 didn't do much in that large an area,
I put the V4000 in there and that did the trick.

during trimming you could smell it outside the front door.
again the V4000 saved the day.
anyone getting these i recommend using the linen or neutral cartidge.

you can also get the Vshark refills,
its the oil pouch minus the cartridge for 1/2 the cost.
not as big as the cartridge pouches but it the same thing.
i put in a 3000sq ft room in front of the ac condenser fan
it'll put down the odor in less than 2 minutes.
i can't say enough about V-tek gear used as stand alone odor control or with other things like ona gel.i
also use ona, but only because i only have 1 VT4000 so thing get shuffled around as needed during harvest

Does anyone know if the fact that I'm not drying in a sealed room will severely hinder the effectiveness of the vaportek? Or is it not that big of an issue?
