I don't think coco is your answer. Try sand, or a greater amount of perlite, to reduce retention and improve porosity (GrowStones Soil Aeration mix comes to mind as well). Coco produces great yields when used hydroponically, but as an organic medium I find it to be no better or worse than what you have now. I don't think adding coco to your mix is a bad idea, far from that! But I would not expect it's addition alone to increase your yields.

I guess I should of phrased my post better, what I consider hydro growing is anytime you water more than two times per day. in 3gals with my current mix I water ever three days due to the retention, and id like to pull it down to every other day. I used gh 3 part with N.L. fat flower so no organics over here

hey guys im new to the site and new to coco coir :) i wona ask is 5-600 ppm to high for my veg's plant's or can i go with that ppm no problem ?

I think you will be fine with 500-600 ppm. Easily. Just make sure to do a reg flush. Watch ya ladies. If tips start burning back off. But the biggest thing is say you need to watch is mg def.
this is me. So grain a salt ;) i use the mg full strength So if I was making 4 gal nute solution at 1/2 stength I'd still add 20ml of cal/mag vs 10ml for half. But then again overs watering once a day. Prob cut it if 2-3 watering.

Enh, just go all the way coco hydro I think. I mean, the organic amendments are nice and all. I'm partial to compost teas in coco for my my peppers and maters. But I think for what you're doing here that there are more variables in the quasi-hydroponic grow mixing organic compost with coco and using an salt-based nutrient. Without supporting the microherd the additional organics really can cause problems with pH instability and anerobic bacterial growth.

Coco Coir Outdoor Questions (gypsum, epsom salts?)

Coco Coir Outdoor Questions (gypsum, epsom salts?)

I'm following LC's Soriless Mixture #1 (https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=53792) but using Coco Coir, I can get it by the yard at a local Landscaping Supply. My question is what are the steps in using A strong base of coco coir? Would I have to use Cal Mag? Would I need to wet and press out the dirty water?

It's a decent size outdoor garden. Using Cal/Mag most of the waterings could get expensive. What are the mixes of possibly using Gypsum/Epsom Salts?

It's used outdoor with Bone/Blood/Kelp meal with every watering of AACT Tea.(Would this be overkill with the BBK meal AND AACT?

Hi i all. Long time reader first time poster;)

I am using coco from a few growst back.

As my main feed sheulde i use plagron a+ b coco, i am trying to keep producer ec levels, this a base, now i am adding some boosters for a current phase of growth, (piranha, top max, atami rootbastic, overdrive, voodo). This is so simple, just keep ph at 5,8 ec vary from 0,8 - 2,0 (depnds of phse), keep basic feed from any coco a+ b formula, regulate ph, add some boosters frome time to time and resoults are guarnitie.

Actualy i try to fill dr60 with one Og dinafem, here is she at 3rd week of veg:

After looking at their website one thing really jumped out at me...

Cocogreen is the world’s leading manufacturer, producer and supplier of coir cocopeat based products...

They are claiming they grow, harvest, shuck, and age the coco in their own facilities. I cannot be certain of this but it's pretty convincing from their site. The company was established in 1996 as an OEM for coco manufacturing (which suggests everyone is getting their coco through these guys and just branding it).

Coco is coco - for the most part. They aren't steaming the coco, which is a good thing to keep the trichoderma but also can contribute to other coco borne illnesses (gnats come to mind) as the steam kills the dormant eggs. They also do some form of washing but it does appear to be the minimalist treatment for coco and an individual grower might want to apply a second wash to the coco before planting.

Coco first timer here, deep water culture is more my thing but had to give Coco a try. Here is some reservaprivada kandy kush week 3 of bloom running canna Coco and some cyco additives along the way.
