Hello everybody

First, because im new here, i want to say, then all you guys doing really good work up here in coco forum. :headbange

Thanks for all the advice you share with us :respect:

My friend have one question bothering him :1help: , which should not be a problem for you

How much water he need per day per plant in 1 and 3 galon pots with run to waste and run-off 10-15 % ? He want to water his ladies 3 to 5 times per light on.

Basicaly, i heard then i need daily one-third of the pot volume. Is this true ?

Im asking, because my friend want to run with coco first time, and he need to know how much of each nutrient he should order.

Sorry for any possible mistakes, because Im a european.

Keep up good work :smoke:

Hi there! I might have some useful info. I've been growing in coco for a year or so, handwatered from start to finish. When i have used 1 gallon pots i water with a bit less than 1/4 of a litre everytime to get about 15 % runoff. In a 3 gallon pot i water with a bit more than 0,5l to get the same amount of runoff. This vary a bit depending on the size of the rootsystem, less water is needed early in the grow. I use ferts every watering. It seems as the 1/3 of potsize every day is a good rule of thumb since my plants are happiest with 3-4 waterings/day.

But i've grown strains that were very happy with just one watering per day. The ssh in my cab atm did not like it however. So treat dif strains according to their own preferences.

I never had any (big) problems with coco as far as under/over watering, pH-problems goes. Fast as hydro, forgiving as soil. Almost.

Hi 70's

Thank you for your help.

Anybody agree, or disagree with this ???

1/4 liter in 1 gallon pot to have run-off 15 % seems awfully low :nono:

Ok, so if I will water 3 times per light on, i will use only 0.75 liter per day ?? This does not agrre with what I know about principle of one-third of the pot volume..

Don't get me wrong, it would be great info for him.
Hovewer, i must be 100 percent sure, before passing this message to my friend. When he starts growing, it will be really big problem for him to ride almost a two hundred miles to hydro shop. Yea, i know this suck, but in our country there is only one well-equipped hydro shop.

One more time thank you for your advice, hovewer I will be greatfull for more info on this.

Good luck and be safe

i only hand water once per day and believe that 3 or more waterings is too much even with drippers.i have 10 to 20% run off and plants seem to love it i keep my ph as close to 5.8 as possible and ec around 1.6 and never higher than 2.0 and never had any problems with water. stay lucky

This girl is only 4 weeks and from seed
You are using the Same Nuts I Am
My veg room

I do keep my PH at 5.5 and do have 10% to 15% run off

These girls are Only 4 Week into 12/12 and I am looking for A great Yeald off them

Im not sure what to Say, I read your Feeding Scl and I just dont see any thing Wrong with it?????? I grow in Coco and Feed By Hand Every Other Day But After 60 Days From Clones your plants should be at least 3' high and Have lots of Node Branches All over Them. I sure hope some one in here can tell you what seems to be your problem. I hope you get it fixed soon

I wish I would have gotten some coir before starting with soil. The cold weather combined with my crap soil has everything stunted. Seriously thinking about just starting over with a coir/perlite or similar mixture.

wariat i grow in pure canna coco i use 6.5 litre pots how much water ? depends on the size of your babies and temperature just water a bit let it stand 2 minutes then add a bit more till you see water dripping out the bottom of your pots anything from 10 to 20% runoff is fine m8 stay lucky

Just got a coir block I ordered online today. Like 10lbs. This stuff looks amazing after it soaks. Just a little bit off the block made quite a bit. Is it ok to mix it with a small bit of perlite?

any special precautions reusing coco coir

any special precautions reusing coco coir

i am reusing my coco coir for my newly rooted clones.
i grow under a 150hps in a type stand alone clothes hanger cabinet...just completed my first coco coir grow...yea!! a truly great experience and a super alternative to get hydro like results without worrying about the h2o temps getting to high and ruining your crop. i read the first 30 or 40 so pages and remember seeing that there is no problem with reusing. what i have noticed is i have little root parts in my coco...should i soak in hygrozyme before using again or does it matter that i have pieces or webs of roots? i thought i got most of the roots out but when i went to use the old coco as the transplanting medium for newly rooted clones their were roots mixed in..

While the topic is in this area regarding re-use of coco, can someone answer this for me? I caught someone saying in a thread that if you use Shooting Powder in your coco grow then you can't re-use the medium. When I asked him to verify this, he said it was on the package dirdections. The 5 pack I bought has no directions of any sort. The manufacturer doesn't respond to my inquiry.
In my quest to get 1GPW from a reluctant strain, I'm growing in big pots, so not getting to re-use my coco will suck.

i havent tried shooting powder, so i can not say anything about that at all.

Re-using coco can work great up to 3 times providing you flush good AND....and use a vegatable bio degrader like Cannazyme... Especially at the end of the cycle..

Yummybolt.... Lower the ph of your fertilizer solution to 5.5 for a watering then move it up to 6.1 the next watering then 5.8 the next then 6.0 etc.... give it some watering like this.... Your solution is coming out a 6.4.. which doesn't seem to high.. but I think your problems will disappear if you check the PH of your solution before you feed it to the plants... and if you yo yo it around between those numbers.... This allows for all of the nutes to get uptaken at their prefferd PH values..

try it... you won't be unhappy! :)

dont skimp on the perlite in the cold weather if it has also effected your dirt grow, cold wet coco is terrible for growing, if u cant bring the temp up go with 50 percent perlite otherwise youll have wet mush that u wont be able to water frequently since its always wet and your plants wont grow as fast as they could, very common sense stuff, sorry if i insulted your intelligence, dont mean to.
