Leepy what a sick idea! I hope for your sake you had a mini excavator or a backhoe, that's a lot of dirt to move with a shovel and bucket..... This def has to go down as one of the most unique grows posted lately
Way to go Leepy! I grow under my living room, in a 8x6x7' high cab. I dug the hole 3' deep, and thought I was a hero. You are one step crazier than me, and I am impressed!
It's a good feeling to be sitting on the couch, knowing that directly below my coffee table, is a crop of gorgeous buds, happily growing away in the crawlspace!
Regards.

Kids are going away for the weekend, Leepy. Gonna get some shots in the next couple days, and post em up. (Yeah, two teenagers at home, snee-heee-kee!)
I Had a GFI trip last week, and my extraction fan crapped out for 20 minutes, before I noticed it. The house reeked like weed, and the kids were home. We blamed it on the neighbors, that live in a rental. Laughing, telling them they were smoking weed on their patio. Sweat pouring off, I found the culprit that was tripping the GFI, quickly reset, and all was well.
I do not have to bust up concrete, though. Damn, you are a dedicated nut!
Regards.
Hey Leepy!
No thread-jacking here, I just wanted to follow up with some pics of my setup. Sadly, after 4 years, I believe it has seen it's last run. My asspilot neighbor, who's lot sits above mine, is trying to turn his yard into a freakin' rain forest. Keep in mind, I live in the high desert, surrounded by sagebrush, and rattlesnakes. All this water he uses, migrates down, and has now moistened my crawl space to the point I have mold. Motherfucker!
I can't even pursue insurance action against him, if this room still exists. (Imagine the insurance adjuster sticking his head down here with a flashlight... "Excuse me sir, what building code allows this kind of "Storage" room?" Yeah, not gonna happen!)
Soo, that said, here's the story.
My back is fucked. I have had severe back pain, since my early 30's, and was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis, and bone spurs on my spine. I hate opiates with a passion, having lost 2 friends over the years to them.
I got my medical card, and built this room in the spring of 2009, because I found that vaping weed, which I hadn't done in almost 15 years, really helped my back.
Ironic, the guy with the bad back, is under his house, building shit like this! The funny part is, reasonable physical labor helps my pain level, while sitting or standing, can seriously put the hurt on me in 20 minutes.
My crawlspace is 4 feet deep, and I knew I needed more than that. So, I started digging, and wound up with a 9x7x4' deep hole, and a big pile of dirt, on the the other side of my crawlspace.
The room was built entirely of 2' wide x 8 long sections of OSB (Chipboard) sheets, ripped on my table saw, and pre-assembled in my garage, then wrestled down my entrance, and assembled in place. It's finshed, inside dimension, is 8'long, 6'wide, and 7.5' tall.
This is the only good side to being Bipolar. I can move mountains on the upswing!
Heat and A/C are supplied by the house HVAC system. I diverted one 6" vent from the trunkline, and added another 4".
A third, passive 6" intake draws air from a phony heat vent behind my couch.
Water must be pumped out through a garden hose, and into the sewer line, just outside.
Water is supplied by a "T" Sharkbite connector on a overhead house waterline. I ran a chlorine/sediment filter, and have tap water that is <100ppm
Air filtration is two stage. A CAN75 knock off is in the room, which is drawn out through two walls, to a plenum box in my garage, where I have a CAN100 knock off, with a Vortex 8" 747 running full power. That vents up, and into the cold air return of my HVAC. Negative pressure is guaranteed, and the room always runs 10 degrees F above the temp in my home, winter or summer.
Makes temp control pretty easy, most of the time.
It's been a good room, despite the nightmare of using it, day to day. It's entrance is in a locked closet, and for 4 years, we have kept it secret from everyone, including our kids. Many, many, many secret trips downstairs, to water when in soil, or PH a res in hydro.
I still think you have me beat. That you went down through a concrete slab, is unreal to me. This room I built, took all I had, on a manic high point of my life. I look at it now, and think "Fuck, really?"
Keep it up man, that setup is awesome! (OK, maybe mount your exhaust blower in one of the cabinets, somehow, then it will be perfect!!!)
Best regards!
