Spent a good 6 hours down there again today... i hoped to get all 36 spots dug, but 9 almost gave me a hernia lol, its clay for the first 4 inches and then rubble and flint! The holes will be 50% collected forest soil and will be around 30% coconut coir. Ill add the clay back (clay will help hold water and has alot of nutrition for plants), mixed with lime (1 cup per hole)... the 1 cup per cubic foot rule has always served me well you can see my plastic measuring cup, with the fbb meal sprinkled on top, i can get 25kg for £15

well 24 holes nearly killed me! lol... i think ill just keep it 24 holes this season and maybe expand next year. I broke the grub axe from b&q, cheap shit! my granddads old spade will out live most of this mass produced crap. (ps you can see the spade in the last hole, left row)

the plot has a subtle sweet and musky scent from the pretty white blackthorn bushes and the bees are hoovering around, sampling the nectar.

my water harvesting idea didnt go to plan, trying to setup a tarpaulin so it drains into a bucket is tricky.... i think ill just leave a dozen buckets to collect instead...... plz rain ill add several more buckets soon...

nice spot harold, i think i know the sort of area that is i wont say on here to give away but it must be tricky to get in there!

I found a new spot today, its well hidden amoung brambles, but about 150-200m away is a main road, that is at a lower level, it is sheilded by trees, but question is, will headlights from the road disrupt the light cycle of the plants? i have a picture il upload in a sec when i can get my phone connected...

Peace

I don`t see how , if it`s shielded by trees now think how it will look in a months+ time with all the leaves on ! & if the roads on a lower level i don`t see how the lights gonna reach the plants .
Your best bet is to sit up there one evening just b4 it gets dark for half hour & see what it`s like .

Most car light bulbs are either halogen or incandesant and at 150-200m it's highly unlikely they would have the intensity to fuck up the dark cycle.

Probably be no brighter than a good full moon.
