Under Ground Grow Room

Underground ops are very cool... however... I've NEVER heard of a 400 watt underground stealth room.

IF you are going through that trouble... go BIG or stay home.

My OP is in a small 4ft crawl space under a bldg. power is run with extention cord(getto)
flower spot is 6 X 9 X 4ft high, mother/clone spot is 3 X 9 x 4ft high. I built a framed floor and walls in there. lined with black plastic, 1/2 inch blueboard and mylar. plywood floor.

run three 65W compacts in mother area, and either a 400 or 1000 HPS. fans goin 24/7, mother area is 24/0 flower 12/12. Its winter here in the rockies and run space heaters in each room. have A/c set up for summer if needed. hopefully itwont need it.

main problem is the dank, will need lots of circulation, dehumidifier if necessary. FRESH air is #1 down under. still gettin my area dialed in second grow in it. everything I want costs money now. all the lumber used I got off a few construction sites. them guys dont work at night:D

in the process of buildin another room, just the cost of the blueboard holdin me up.

I'd say your biggest problem or concern is gonna be moisture. Assuming you have the obvious concern of " cave-ins" adressed. What the hell bro, build it. Good luck. Peace. :canabis:

Thanks for the help, I don't plan on just having a 400 watter, that is just temporary and it is the light I have now. Once the room if finshed I will upgrade to 2-3 600 watters. I may even make it bigger to allow for more light.

I am like stuck to this thread. I have never heard of an underground grow before. This is like amazing to me!!! I'm in the big foofy chair with my fuzzy slippers, some cappuchino, and a biscotti stirin and waiting for the next update notrhernlightss...

Look on OG, there have been quite a few of underground grows. Somebody had a deck built above his, it was pretty impresive. The Cannabis Cave was a nice looking room but I am not sure if he ever grew anything in it. I will post lots of pics when I am done.

Yeah, there's at least one thread over at OG where someone basically dug out, framed in and created a large room underground. I think the name of that thread was "the bunker" or something similar...I don't recall exactly.. I remember reading that thread and thinking how much work that would be, but I can't think of a cooler or safer place to grow! :)

I finished a project like this a few months ago. It took a month to remove 300 cubic feet of dirt in 5 gallon buckets through small hole in the floor. walls were built with cider blocks
that were reinforced with 1/2 rebar and horzontaly reinforced with ladder wire. after the hole was dig, I used 6 mil plastic and duct tape to seal the room then poured the steel reinforced concrete footings then layed the block using type S mortor. then poured the concrete floor. you really gotta look into sub grade retaining walls before you get to far along and start to understand the stresses thoes walls will be subjected too. hydrostatic pressures, soil types, and weight of nearby structures have to be supported by your walls. next time im gonna rent a back hoe and bury a shipping container.

HMMM
Maybe try digging the hole out somewhat larger then just frame it up 2x4 with
waterproof sheetrock, or plywood. then just use some cross members against all for walls. for added strength against cave ins. just my 2 pennies. high on shwag. ohh the under the deck idea is good...

buy a steel cargo container (truck/ship), rent a back hoe, tow the shit into the hole with your truck and a cable, then bury it, and sod over the top. easy to do in a weekend. have fun!

My crew could pull it off if properly motivated, hehe

A weekender, no permits but then all those jackasses know I have a buried tank in the back yard.

These tanks are all over Texas but mainly used as tornado shelters in N.E. Texas and the panhandle. Yeeeehaw it's Pecos bill

A grow op is something we debate every time we see one and I have people with land out in the sticks that could easily accomadate a few tanks

No.Lights I agree with the other poster of using a steel container because you would have to deal with the stucture resisting failure under soil weight ,theres alot of different forces acting on it and you wouldnt want to take any big risk with something thats hand made by you... not that youre a bad builder, its just those steel containers are engineered beyond anything youll put it thru .... just dig a hole ,drop it in ,clean it out, start growing , collect the MONEY ... everybody would just think youre building a pool or that you are paronoid about a nuclear war!!!
i cant want for the day im building my cave for the cannibus :joint:

no need to worry about structural stability with a shipping container. they are made to hold 20 tons, and be stacked quite a few high.

MAN!! I hope you mugs dont start that shit here,,, that hating shit is all they do @ OG.... if somebody has a dream and follows thur on that dream , then they get their PROPS from me , I believe CC is telling the truth and if you decide to build a cave , then more PROPS to you too!!
