I wouldnt think so. Because the first thing you learn when looking into a RA problem, is that RA's and Fungus Gnats look almost identical, except Fungus gnats are a little more mosquito-y. So, i would think if someone thought they had a RA problem, as soon as they looked into it, they would know the difference. I, have had a fungus gnat problem for a while, i think the RA's are new. A couple months ago, I bought some bark mulch from some local mulch place. Bugs all through it. Probably the dumbest shit i ever did. I was reading that TLO book at the time and got a little crazy with it. anyways..
I personally didnt even think RA's, until someone described the symptoms of RA's and i had every one of them. In the exact order they mentioned. Then i looked into that Fungus Gnats VS Winged Root Aphid Thread. hated every second. Cause it was all so familiar. butttt....
yer absolutely right. I havent seen any. period. BUt ive only really checked my yellow sticky traps, and they're completely covered in fungus gnats. Nothing but fungus gnats. AS i understand, you might not see the RA's until you break open the pot/soil/roots. or if you spray the soil with something and they come running out. I havent done either yet.
But I have done extensive reading about this, and am pretty sure its RA's. I hope im wrong. But i have all the signs. The only other thing it could be... The past couple months, my tap water has been brownish on and off. Then, the other day, i walked outta my house, and this guy in a water authority truck had the bolt off of a fire hydrant and was draining it. I asked the guy if anyone had complained about dirty lookin water. And he said, "thats why im here doing this." He said the water company had been draining hydrants all over town, tryin to flush the system or something. But the dirty water keeps coming back. They cant figure it out. HOWEVER... I run ALL my water through a R/O machine, so i would think it wouldnt matter. But maybe this dirty water is my problem
. and its causing the same symptoms of RA's. Which, by the way, are: starts in veg with 'phantom' Mag def. 'Phantom' meaning, not matter how you treat it, nothing works. (ive tried two different bottles of g.o. calmag, epsom salt, blackstrap molasses, compost teas, and something containing magnesium sulfate. can't shake the Mag def.) All of my strains look like this (the pic is kinda old, but they look the same)Then, after flipping to 12/12, the real fun starts.
Anyways, believe me, I hope I dont have them. Im running an experiment now. Half my veg plants are getting store bought Distilled water, and half are getting my R/O water. So, if i see improvement in the Distilled half, ill know my water is the problem. IF they both stay F'ed up, it has to be RA's.
(and my water comes out the tap at like 8 or 8.5 ph and is like 6 after going through the R/O. Shouldnt R/O water be exactly 7?) and sorry this post is so confusing, its like 3 am and ive been up forever. My brain hurts when i try and think. Good night

well,that was fun,just ordered 600 bux worth of stuff from rei...sleeping bag,ground pad,fuel canister support for the stove and a 10 liter water storage bladder...that should round out the camping gear...not quite glamping but pretty close to car camping for a trailer set up....im going to keep my eye on sierra trading post and the sales at rei for a whisper weight bag for the summer although i may grab the sleeping bag liner for the bag im getting and just use that,indeed that will be fairly likely since i would also like to get a lightweight super compressible sleeping bag for trips where the trailer would be a liability and just wearing a day pack works better...theres some blm land nearby where i can just go camp in the desert thats only 10 miles away so i can just load up after i feed the plants and dash out there and set up and just come back in the morning until i can get the gardens to all agree to let me go on overnighters...
sheesh,i go to play civ5 for a few hours and come back to the schwagafornia beaster patrol show!
